I was honored to serve on the Trilateral Commission‘s Task Force on Global Capitalism, which released its report this week. The task force focused on the role of capitalism in addressing three major challenges: climate change, digitization, and inequality.

After nearly 40 years, today is my final day with the Lockheed Martin team. I've been continually inspired by my colleagues as they strive to deliver for our customers and help solve the world's most complex challenges. When I transitioned away from the role of CEO in June 2020, I was proud to pass the torch to James Taiclet, and I look forward to following the company’s continued success under his leadership.

I am honored to have been elected a fellow by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Throughout my career at Lockheed Martin, I witnessed the global innovation and profound impact aerospace professionals have on our society.  As the demand for talented, driven individuals in STEM continues to grow, and we see an increased need for rapid transformation, I’m proud to join a class of fellows that are committed to making the world safer, smarter, and more prosperous for all. Congrats to newly elected fellows Robert Lightfoot, Terry Burress, and Tom Frey from Lockheed Martin and all of the class of 2022!

It was my pleasure to become one of the newest inductees into the Alabama Academy of Honor and join the long legacy of innovators and change makers who came before me. For the past five plus decades, the academy has recognized Alabamians for their outstanding accomplishments and service to the state and our nation. It is my hope that our actions will inspire people from all backgrounds to strive for excellence and work as one to build a brighter future. Thank you to my Lockheed Martin family who helped make such a recognition possible, and congratulations to my fellow inductees.

My colleagues of the Task Force on National Security and U.S. Manufacturing Competitiveness and I released our latest report on bolstering the nation’s production capabilities and overcoming disruptions in a rapidly changing global economy.   Though there are several challenges facing the U.S., we believe we can take targeted actions to build momentum and accelerate a renewal of our manufacturing competitiveness, such as: scaling up workforce development programs, standing up public-private investment arms to support domestic manufacturing sectors and modernizing the Defense Production Act to bring it into relevancy for the 21st Century.   I look forward to helping spearhead nationwide efforts to realize the transformative changes that will spark a new era of growth for the nation and its hardworking citizens. Yesterday, I celebrated the honor of receiving Aviation Week’s Lifetime Achievement Award with my family, Lockheed Martin teammates, and the many other exceptional Laureate winners who have advanced the frontiers of flight and our understanding of air and space.   In this 21st century environment of accelerating threats and transformational change, our nation needs the best and brightest minds working together toward a common goal: to strengthen our national security, protect human life, and accelerate science and human understanding.   I look forward to witnessing the inspiring innovation that will continue to propel our industry – and the world – forward.

My husband James and I recently joined University of Alabama leadership for the grand opening of Hewson Hall. It will serve as a state-of-the-art facility that will empower students to collaborate, innovate, and hone the skills they will need to become entrepreneurs, compete for high-tech jobs and seize the exciting opportunities the business world offers.   This university has played a foundational role in my life, and I’m excited to continue my support for the Culverhouse College of Business and the current and future generations of students, researchers and professors who will walk the school’s halls.

Four years ago, I supported the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business to assist the school’s focus on education and research in business-data intelligence and cybersecurity.    Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet several of the scholarship recipients and learn about their hard work and academic achievements. These young, bright minds are poised to tackle some of the world’s most complex challenges, using the high-demand skills they’ve developed over the last few years.    I look forward to their continued success and positive impact in the years to come.

I am honored to receive Aviation Week Network's Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the aerospace and aviation industry. Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed the countless innovative solutions from Lockheed Martin experts and other creative minds of this community. I am proud to have worked alongside many of these trailblazers over the years. As the Lockheed Martin team and other companies continue to engineer next-generation solutions for service members around the globe, I am excited to see what the future holds.
