Today’s a big day for me – after 8 unbelievable years of leading Depop, I’ve made the almost impossible decision to step down as CEO in order to take a break and spend more time with my family. Being CEO of Depop has been the most challenging but, by far, the most rewarding experience of my entire career. Learning from my teams, from our users and many times, from my own mistakes, has been priceless. It has been a hell of a ride but we shared many great moments together and we’ve done things I never thought possible. Today, I’m proud to say that the Depop community is stronger than ever, and because of this, I feel an incredible sense of peace as I pass the baton to a new leader. And on that note, I couldn’t be more excited to share that Kruti Patel Goyal has been named Depop’s CEO, and will be relocating to London to start her new role in September. I personally can’t wait to welcome her to the UK so I can start introducing her to the coolest people I know, our Depop community, and London’s bright fashion & tech scene. In the meantime, I want to thank Roberto Bonanzinga (Depop’s early investor) for introducing me to Depop, to Simon Beckerman (Depop’s founder) for entrusting me with his baby and teaching me the importance of Brand & Community, to the one and only Mark Evans for giving me the opportunity to be Depop’s CEO and for being there for me every step of the way. And of course to all of the investors & NEDs who believed in me and Depop’s potential – Rebecca Hunt, Melis Kahya, Lars Langusch, Fredrik Cassel 🇺🇦, Chris Morton and Supriya Uchil. And to Josh Silverman for being an inspiring mentor and for giving Depop the best home we could’ve ever hoped for. But most importantly, thank you to everyone at Depop who I’ve shared this incredible journey with. You’ve always been the reason I go the extra mile. Maria x
