As a country, we have been puzzled by the drop off in cases from Day 1 of lockdown in South Africa. We are all asking "Why did this happen?"
The question I asked was: "Did it actually happen?" 🤷
Taking a deeper look at the data, the cases by province do not carry the same drop off. If you look at the number of cases "unassigned to a province", there is a significant spike around the day of Lockdown.
As a country, the total case numbers dropped off on day 1 of lockdown. But at the provincial level, they didn't. 🤔
Question for data scientists: Which data is more useful to work with? Country-level data? Or provincial-level data?
