Thanks for the tag, Kate! There's a lot of truth in this statement -- though it may not be immediately obvious. Scrum is what happens when teams naturally achieve high performance. In fact, the Scrum framework includes specific patterns and elements precisely because they are found in high-performance teams. Example: In companies where high levels of transparency are achieved, where teams are self-organizing, and where technical quality is high, we often find they have brief daily check-ins, they plan and deliver in brief cycles; they deliver small batches of work frequently; and have close proximity between end users and development team members. It's highly likely to also observe high levels of trust and openness, cross-functionality, high levels of stakeholder engagement, and so on. Regardless of the words they use to describe their workflows, those are tell-tale signs of Scrum.
