quin·quen·ni·al means every five year and I always associate the word with the #farmbill which Congress renews every five years. The Farm Bill is essential legislation that impacts every family in America and has enormous potential to help the food, agriculture and forestry sectors achieve their climate mitigation potential while also preserving and creating new economic opportunities. Two media releases in one day and a postdoc position announcement (I think this goes against LinkedIn protocol but we have to get the word out)! At Cornell University Chronicle article describes how we aim to enhance dairy production efficiency in #India with Environmental Defense Fund and NDDB Dairy Services as strategic partners. In brief, we need to (1) build a feed library for a high-priority region, (2) develop feeding recommendations with CNCPS nutrition model and others, and (3) perform a field trial in India to evaluate the efficacy of ration balancing for smallholder famers and identify barriers for adoption. To get started, we need to hire a talented postdoc. The postdoc will be hired by EDF but reside at Cornell to work with our diverse team of staff, postdocs, and graduates students representing 8 nationalities! The postdoc will be part of the development of Cornell LIFE: Livestock Innovations for Food Security and Environmental Health, which involves substantial programmatic efforts focused on enteric #methane mitigation in #livestock. Potential applicants are encouraged to have knowledge of #dairy cattle nutrition, sustainable smallholder farming practices, and/or livestock agriculture in India. We have to think big and drive innovation for all farmers and the future of sustainable dairy!
