How Infosys is embracing AI in energy

I live in Houston, a city synonymous with energy. We call it the energy capital of the world, and it’s where I’ve spent many years witnessing the evolution of the energy industry. I find myself wondering what’s next? Where will technology take us? What does the advent of AI mean for the energy industry?     We’re living in the AI era, it’s seeped into our daily routines, and like a natural evolution it has become an integral part of our lives. From personalized content to optimized traffic patterns, it’s here. It’s everywhere.   Nowhere is this more evident than in the energy sector. As we are faced with the urgent challenge of transitioning to cleaner energy sources, AI emerges as an indispensable ally. It's not just about efficiency or cost reduction. It's about reimagining our energy ecosystem to be more resilient, sustainable and equitable.   Imagine AI-powered oil and gas operations transforming carbon management. Picture a world where AI precisely monitors emissions across the entire value chain, predicts equipment failures to optimize maintenance, enhances energy efficiency through advanced analytics, and accelerates the development and deployment of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies.   These visions are no longer a distant dream; it’s happening right now. For instance, Infosys’ Energy-as-a-Service solution, created in partnership with bp, is reimagining how energy is consumed by helping businesses improve the energy efficiency, and in meeting their decarbonization goals. Our partnership with Shell on immersion cooling technology is another exciting development that utilizes advanced cooling techniques, to significantly reduce energy consumption and the environmental impact of data centers.   Our work with bp and Shell represents significant strides but there is a lot more currently brewing at Infosys. And as I reflect on our journey so far, I'm filled with optimism about the future. I am eager to discuss our work, our vision, and the possibilities of AI with fellow visionaries at ONS 2024.
