Thank you to The Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies for inviting me to participate in this year's Spacepower Security Forum. And thank you to my fellow panelists: Dr. Derek Tournear, Scott Klempner, and Joe Laurienti for the engaging conversation around Denying First-Mover Advantage. One thing that stood out to me was the discussion around increasing resiliency by factoring in more autonomy into satellite design. This includes autonomous tasking capabilities that assure joint warfighters have access to vital data streams even in actively contested environments, which is precisely why we are excited for our upcoming Pony Express 2 on-orbit demonstrations. All in all, achieving competitive endurance starts with superb mission integration and innovating at scale to create capabilities that enable decision-makers to outmaneuver, outpace, outlast and outsmart potential threats. #space #nationalsecurity #technology

I had a great time discussing “Operationally Responsive Space” on a panel at Air & Space Forces Association's Warfare Symposium, in Aurora, Colorado, earlier this week. During the session, I shared how Lockheed Martin is working to bring new space capabilities to our warfighters faster by self-funding a series of technology demonstrator missions, including our unique wideband Electronically Steerable Antenna (ESA) payload demonstrator – nicknamed “Tantrum,” which we recently operationalized in four days and gained valuable VLEO experience from, as well as Pony Express 2, a pair of smallsats launching soon that will demonstrate mesh networking and autonomous bid-auction tasking using our HiveStar technology. I can’t think of a better way to kick off 2024, than officially being recognized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) as an Associate Fellow, joining a remarkable group of 3,460+ other professionals who have worked tirelessly to make important contributions to advance aeronautics and astronautics. When I started my career journey in aerospace almost 30-years ago, I always aspired to leave an indelible mark on the industry, and more importantly to inspire others to push the boundaries of innovative excellence, so we could achieve amazing things together. So with that top of mind, I’d like to thank all of my mentors, colleagues, and fellow engineers who have pushed me to be the best leader possible; being in your company is an award in itself. It’s a true honor to be elected as an AIAA Associate Fellow! AIAA represents the best and brightest innovators in the aerospace field, and I hope we can inspire an ever-widening community to join us in making a difference for good in this world and beyond.  

This week I was energized to join the AIAA Board of Trustees, led by the AIAA Executive Director Dan Dumbacher, where esteemed colleagues across the aerospace industry came together to share ideas about how we can continue to move AIAA into future.   I'm honored to be part of the newest cohort of board members of an organization with such rich history, as illustrated by the American Rocket Society Award, which includes space greats like Theodore Von Karman and Robert Goddard as early recipients, or an American flag flown on the Space Shuttle, which is especially meaningful to me since it inspired my own space career. It's great to have a role furthering the legacy of this amazing organization.

Approx. 3 million service members have served in wars following the attacks on 9/11. Our service members have given so much, and it is important to take care of those who serve. My team and I recently had the opportunity to volunteer at House of Heroes CT to clean up and fix a veteran’s home, and it was our honor to spend time helping someone who spent years of their life in service to our country.   We will never forget, and we will never stop serving those who serve.
