Feedback I received on my conversation with Adam Grant during SAS Global Forum: Why didn't you ask about the frog? Well, as it turns out I was so curious about Adam's office guest, I couldn't wait for the cameras to start rolling to ask about it. Here's the scoop: Adam's team gave him the frog as a gift to commemorate his TED Talk, "What frogs in hot water can teach us about thinking again." #SASGF https://lnkd.in/dBHU4Hp

During the great resignation the number of job posts that mention curiosity has risen by 90%, and 72% of managers say that curiosity is a "very valuable" trait in potential employees. SAS just released an exciting new report on the value of Curiosity at Work. Check it out for new insights on how curiosity is powering the workplace! https://lnkd.in/djbWys7x

The headline of this article made me chuckle, but a lot of the points provided some food for thought on working with Gen Z professionals. Here at SAS we have a Marketing Associate Program, and my favorite thing about working with young professionals (many of them Gen Z!) is their digital native approach and growth mindset. What do you think about what Gen Z is bringing to the workforce? http://2.sas.com/6043JbQqP

"Never forget" is a phrase often used on Veterans Day, and Veterans Day 2021 is a day I'll never forget. As the daughter of a Veteran, the stories of the men and women who serve have always been dear to me. But seeing a group of 95 veterans soaking in memorials created in their honor? For a moment, it felt like I could see into their stories. That's exactly what I had the privilege to do yesterday. My dad, Nick Venero, was recognized alongside 95 other WWII, Korean, and Vietnam veterans on the Honor Flight through Honor Flight Network. Together, they flew to Washington D.C. My son was able to be his guardian on the flight.... as my father has been ours for so many years. I escorted my mom to D.C. to meet them there, and we got to follow this group of brave veterans as they saw the memorials. (You don't know tired until you chase 95, 65+ year-old veterans around DC. I could barely keep up with them!) Their stories are the stories of our freedom. It's hard to describe how moving it is to be a part of reminding these brave veterans that we do remember. We remember the sacrifice, the sleepless nights, and the hardships they endured. We remember that freedom is never free, and that they chose to give up their own comfort so that we could keep ours. To everyone who has served, we remember you. Thank you for your service, and for every sacrifice you've made to write the stories of our freedom. And to my dad, thank you will never be enough. It was a privilege to do this with you. Thank you for your service, and for every sacrifice you've made for our family. #VeteransDay

We all know that consumer-facing supply chain issues are everywhere this holiday season, but there's less conversation about how it impacts marketing departments. This article from the The Wall Street Journal takes a look at how marketers are responding, and I'd love to hear from you! Is the supply chain impacting your Q4 marketing plans? If so, what are you changing? #marketing #supplychain #Q4marketing http://2.sas.com/6049Jbt1x

One of the most valuable lessons I ever learned came from my childhood figure skating coach. She told me, "If you're not falling, you're not trying hard enough." She showed me that a fall is not a failure – it's an opportunity to grow. This is a lesson that I've carried with me as a leader, a wife, a mother, and as a daughter. I carry this lesson with me daily in my work at SAS. I encourage my teams – and my family – to look at mistakes and challenges using the Rule of 10s. To use this rule, ask yourself: What is this challenge or mistake going to look like in 10 days, in 10 months, or even 10 years? Zooming out can sometimes show that what feels like a major failure today is only a fall on the ice.... And those falls may be helping you grow. So, when you have a fall in business or in life, remind yourself "if you're not falling, you're not trying hard enough." I'd love to hear from you in the comments, when have you learned from a "fall"? #ThisLittleGirlisMe #leadershipjourney

So, I just bought my first pair of tap shoes. Here's why: (and why you might need to buy some too) My daughter came home from her Monday night modern dance class with mischief in her eyes. She happily told me all about her dance class and then said, "Mom, you know, there's an adult tap dance class on Monday nights... and I think you should do it." My first thought? Not just no. I mean, I'm no dancer, and I don't think I have time for learning to tap my toes. But then, it hit me. I had to say yes. Not only because I didn't want to let my daughter down today, but because I realized my "no" now would mean so much more. It would be telling her: - don't try things you're not good at - you can't be successful and have fun - stay in your comfort zone Frankly, I wouldn't be thrilled if someone else said those things to my daughter. So, I bought the shoes and signed up for the class... and I intend to tap my heart out over the next few months. I hope that today's yes reminds my daughter (and you!) that learning is a lifelong journey. And that it can be really dang fun too. How are you getting out of your comfort zone lately? Learned anything new? Share your story in the comments and help inspire someone else to #keeplearning.
