Raising the Bar of Post High School Expectation for Girls!

*Posted from a site that is known for satire as a tribute to the late gender equity pathfinder Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg - this did not actually happen* “NBA players are honoring the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg this week by wearing pretty lace collars just like Notorious RBG used to wear. In a touching show of respect for the late Justice Ginsburg, and in solidarity with her progressive cause, Lebron James and the LA Lakers took to the court wearing a stunning variety of delicate white collars inspired by RBG's wardrobe.”

This article is definitely a parody but it isn't obvious at first glance. Instead of making fun of the people that "fell for it" and feeling superior, let's discuss how to objectively look at social media article to spot the truth. First, read the byline and news source: do you recognize either? If not, google the news source to find out more about them and their point of view. Second, does the article make commons sense? When would a professional basketball player, who is in the Orlando bubble, be able to get a doily from his mom's house? Third, read the quotes: Lebron James is quite famous; does this "quote" sound like how he speaks? Obviously, we don't always know the sources of quotes but this is another tool to determine the authenticity of an article. Does anyone else have ideas or tips on how to verify news articles? I believe that is where the discussion should be.
