Fighting Anemia through Food Group Promotion At ChildFund India, Firozabad, we replicated a strategy I learned at PCI India, promoting 10 essential food groups for minimum diet diversity among adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. At our very first private hospital activation in Ibadan — Vine Branch Hospital — we went beyond simply providing nutritional supplements. We sat with parents and caregivers, sharing knowledge that empowers families to make lasting changes. Because true impact is not just about giving, it’s about equipping. The launch introduced the Nutrition Support Centre (NSC) desk, trained hospital staff on screening and referral processes, and integrated nutrition services into existing medical care. This isn’t a one-time effort — it’s the beginning of a model we’re rolling out across more private hospitals, ensuring that nutrition support becomes part of everyday healthcare. ✨ Nutrition Support for TB Patients in Jabalpur District✨ Supansha Development Foundation, with the guidance of the Collector Jabalpur and CTD Officials, organized a special distribution of Nutrition Food Baskets for TB patients at the District TB Center (DTC), Jabalpur. The program was graced by the presence of Dr. Santosh Thakur (District TB Officer), Mr. Sunil Sharma (District Program Coordinator), Mr. Seemant Dhimole (PMDT Coordinator), STS staff, Mr. Rohit Tiwari (Heera), Mr. Anil Jain (Gudda), Mr. Meenesh Jain, and other esteemed citizens of the district. During the interaction, Dr. Pankaj Dubey (Director, Supansha Development Foundation) emphasized the importance of: ✅ Understanding why TB occurs and how it spreads ✅ Completing TB treatment without interruption ✅ Ensuring proper adherence to medication ✅ Maintaining proper hygiene during treatment ✅ Consuming a nutritious diet for faster recovery As part of this initiative, patients received essential nutrition and hygiene products provided by Dabur India Ltd., including Honey, Jaggery-based Chyawanprash, Mixed Fruit Juice, Soap, Hand Sanitizer, Dabur Gel Toothpaste, and other essentials. Looking ahead, Supansha Development Foundation will continue to support these patients by providing monthly nutrition supplies for the next 6 months, until completion of their TB treatment. Furthermore, the Foundation is committed to distributing Nutrition & Hygiene Kits to nearly 3,000 TB patients this year, strengthening their journey to good health and recovery. Growing Health: Nutri-garden for a Bright Future Thematical Area: Health and Education Name of project: Swasth Bharat Area of Implementation: Mundagod, Haliyal and Sirsi Blocks of Uttara Kannada, Karnataka In collaboration with Britannia Nutrition Foundation, we are implementing the Swasth Bharat Program with the primary goal of reducing iron deficiency and anemia among adolescents aged 10–19 years. As part of this program, innovative initiatives such as Nutri Gardens have been established in 25 schools over the last two years. The fresh produce harvested from these gardens is directly integrated into the daily midday meals, providing children with access to fresh, chemical-free, and nutrient-rich food. PCI Pulse | Measurement & Behaviour Change for Health and Nutrition This week, PCI India conducted a Training of Trainers for Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS) in Shillong on Social & Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and Monitoring for Food, Nutrition, Health, and WASH (FNHW). Participants from all 12 districts explored innovative ways to influence deep-rooted behaviours and learned effective mechanisms to measure and monitor progress.
