This summer we have 10 wonderful summer associates that have joined us for 10 weeks. The Summer Associates this week got to meet all other summer associates at Capital Group for a summit. We were having so much fun we didn't get a chance to take too many pictures and the one group picture we did take we are missing one of the Summer Associates :). More pictures to come throughout the summer. The Summer Associates heard from many senior leaders and during our business breakout session we spent time with the equity trading team understanding how that part of our business operates. We then had a trading floor tour and learned a lot about Capital Group. The Summer Associates are working on awesome projects and teams. They are working on Smart Automation, Data Engineering, Back-office Accounting Systems, AI and Testing, Investment Group Product Management, Architecture, Client Engineering, Investment Research Tech, Cloud, Networking and Sales and Investment Services to name a few. I rarely get personal on here, but I thought this was important to share. Summer is usually the busiest time of year for me at work (but let’s be real, university recruiting is busy year-round!). With summer comes our intern program, the best time of the year! However, this summer brought lots of twists and turns. My dad passed away suddenly from cancer, just a week before my second group of interns started. I took time off, and my manager Matthew Naughton and Alex Khoury immediately stepped in, telling me to focus on my family and not to worry about work. Yesterday, I was supposed to host our intern showcase for our marketing interns (one of the best parts of my role, getting to see all the work our interns have accomplished over the summer). My husband, a first responder, was called out to an active shooter situation. It was terrifying to watch the scene unfold on TV, knowing someone I love was facing it head-on. With barely any updates, I felt helpless. I knew I couldn’t focus and wanted to give our interns the best experience for their showcase, so I called in the help of a few colleagues, Chris, ec, and Corey. Without hesitation, ec took the lead and told me to focus on my family. Today, I connected with my manager again, and he told me to take some time and focus on my family, not to worry about work. He reminded me that there are so many bigger things in life than our work, and it’s okay to put yourself and your family first. I am incredibly grateful for the work-life balance and the people-first culture here at Teradata that Kathy Cullen-Cote has worked so hard to create. With all this being said, I want to send a message to all emerging talent out there, whether you’re an intern returning to school or just entering the workforce: when you’re interviewing, ask about the company culture and dig a little deeper. Can you visualize yourself in that culture? If you were faced with a tough scenario, what would the response look and feel like to you? Would it be, “Don’t worry about work, focus on your family”? If not, I encourage you to find another company and another role. Look for people-first companies that truly value their employees’ well-being.

⁉ Calling all aspiring Equity Research Analysts / incoming summer interns / graduate offer holders ⁉ Learn Equity Research using this simple 5 step process… I remember the first time I had to pitch a stock in an interview for an equity research role. I absolutely bombed it. I was trying to remember what the business does, why it's a good investment, and ultimately saying nonsense for like 5 minutes. Then the interviewer gave me one of the best pieces of advice I needed to hear at the time. "Any time you are going to have an interview, have a stock pitch ready" So, what makes a good stock pitch? Here is a breakdown of the Equity research process in 5 simple steps: 1)Initial assessment of the investment opportunity 2)Initial assessment of the business model 3)Deep dive & identification of key drivers 4)Thesis development & pitch preparation 5)Investment decision & thesis tracking

For our next intern spotlight, we are excited to introduce Hunter Lawson, an incoming senior at Lehigh University majoring in Finance. This summer, Hunter is bringing his talent and passion to our Listed Real Estate Securities team. He is eager to dive into the world of real estate, and we are thrilled to have him on board! Continue reading below to learn more about Hunter: 1. What is the best piece of professional advice you have ever received? I had a professor tell me to “go and get anything you want in your career—whether that be a job, promotion, opportunity, etc.” You must get it yourself because nobody is going to do it for you. Don’t be afraid to ask for things because, ultimately, the worst thing that can happen is that you get a “no.” 2. What inspired you to pursue a career in your current field of study? I realized I wanted to pursue a career in finance, specifically the public side, when I was 16 or 17 years old. I was stuck in my house during quarantine and found myself consuming everything I could about stocks and the market. I read books and watched a ton of YouTube videos every day. It felt like a newfound passion, and I’m so glad I chose this as my area of focus. 3. If you could share some advice with your younger self, what would it be? I would tell my younger self that if something scares you, do it and keep a brave face. A lot of things in your life are not going to be easy or comfortable, but the only way you can get better is to do things that scare you and to stay positive. 4. As a child, what career did you want to have when you “grew up?” Growing up, I always wanted to be a marine biologist. I still find it to be an interesting career and I used to think it would be so cool to study the ocean and the life within it. However, I soon realized that I didn’t like biology and that I have a huge fear of sharks. 5. If you could try something knowing you would not fail, what would it be? I probably would want to go to the Moon or Mars. I don’t have a big interest in space, but seeing either of the two would be something I couldn’t turn down if it were a guaranteed success. #CenterSquare #SummerInternship #Spotlight
