Is the NDAA relevant to business in the UK? No. It is only relevant if you sell products directly to the federal government in the U.S. or use federal U.S. funds for a project. What is the NDAA? An American law which prevents U.S. federal agencies from purchasing products from a list of companies managed by the U.S. Department of Defense. The scope is limited to federal procurement, federal contracts and use of federal grant and loan funds. It does not apply to local or state governments. It only applies if you are a prime contractor with the U.S. federal government. It does not apply to subcontractors or to any foreign or domestic parents, affiliates, or subsidiaries of prime contractors. I'd love it if I could just log into all the different devices using one plug in. That would be a great start 🙄
Clarity on a misunderstood issue, always welcome.

9moWhilst technically correct, it's the buyer's that are requesting NDAA. Rightly or wrongly, it has filtered in to the UK market as a requirement. Whether that's through government spin, or genuine concern, that's another matter. If they wanted to, the governments in question could have a security cleared firmware version that is approved for government use, but they'd rather push the anti-hik angle than try to resolve the issue with the world's biggest manufacturer being blacklisted. Do we honestly think that the procurement people care about being educated, and not just ticking a box?
