IMPORTANT This document is the synthesis of several months of work. Initially, I was hesitant to share these reflections. But all the figures and studies we have gone through have convinced us. Now, it seems important that the experts are mobilized to help the supervisory bodies to build a responsible solution. #basel3 #economy #climaterisk #regulatorycompliance #baselworld #riskmanagement #regulators #EBA #ACPR #BIS #federalreserve #worldbank #imf #centralbanks , #ratings #climatechange Bozena Gulija Frédéric Lardo, FRM, Bertrand Hassani, PhD, Ariane Chapelle, Frederic Visnovsky, Xavier Reille, Dorra Berraies, Amine Benjelloun Richard Vasicek Antoine Bezat Greg M. Most interesting -- I've featured this in today's Climate Risk Review newsletter (https://climateriskreview.substack.com/p/weekly-round-up-may-4-8). Can I ask, what do you think the utility is of having a separate climate risk charge rather than having climate risk factors incorporated into existing Pillar 1 requirements (credit, market, operational?)

Glad to see that since the French Banking Federation proposed in 2016 the Green Supporting Factor, a mechanism which grant banks low levels of capital if their financings are ‘green’, everyone agrees that climate risks are material for banks and therefore need to be taken into account in setting capital requirements. Thank you Benoit Genest.
