🌍WHY I WORK AT DEEL? 🌍 For the last four years I’ve lived with severe chronic illnesses. This means I can be in pain throughout the day and night at any given point – at work, at the gym, with friends and family. I used to feel incredibly anxious in the mornings. What excuse am I going to have to make up to not go into the office today? How will I function in the office after very little to no sleep? How do I navigate conversations with my colleagues that have previously told me I’m "stand-offish"? When I simply wouldn’t have the capacity to be engaged. My previous company was incredibly supportive. However, with the return back to the office initiative last year, I knew I had to find a new venture that was completely flexible to allow me more freedom to manage my symptoms. With Deel, I can work from anywhere in the world. This was so important to me as I was about to undergo ongoing long-term treatment in Tbilisi, Georgia. I didn’t need to explain to anyone why I needed to be out of the country, as being able to travel while working is part of Deel's DNA. Despite my illness, I haven’t missed a day of work since joining, and my mind is so much more relaxed in the mornings. I no longer have to battle my way through the questions above every time I wake up. Now I am more settled, I want to help raise awareness of the millions of people living with invisible disabilities in the workplace. This post will be a surprise to many people I know. It’s true, you really have no idea what’s going on in someone else’s life. There is a huge mental and physical pressure that comes with living with a chronic illness. It can consume your existence. I’m grateful I have an amazing supportive unit of family, friends and colleagues. They truly help me wake up each day and fight. I have severe endo, and I totally understand chronic illnesses are awful and debilitating I also suffer with anxiety. I work remotely for this reason, the stress of going into an office when I wouldn’t know what my symptoms would be like from day to day was awful. I wouldn’t go back and I can also work anywhere too. I am so glad you have found this for yourself sending lots of love to you xx

So proud of you sharing your story. You are an inspiration! I've seen your spirit lift the last 11 months with the ease of working from anywhere with Deel. That added pressure of being a 'work version' of you completely alleviated. Keep being you, you're doing amazing.

Wishing you the best and hope you are able to get the treatment you need to live a pain free life! Disabilities effect everyone differently and it's very couragous to stand up and increase awareness of it!

😅 'You won't last a month in this sales environment!' 😅 That is what one of my colleagues said to me in my first week, in a sales role six years ago. I was the only woman in the team, that didn't stop me though. I reached and exceeded my targets, I won the Director's Club to Vegas and I was promoted. Sales is extremely male dominated. I have had many experiences 'just because' I'm a woman. Why should it be acceptable for men to get a handshake when I get greeted via a kiss on the cheek or to be called 'love' or 'sweetheart' by male colleagues and clients. Too many times I didn't speak up when I was uncomfortable, I usually just laugh along. Let's #breakthebias and embody female empowerment! To all women in the workplace, whatever you're doing, whatever your situation, whatever you're dealing with. Ukraine is and always will be close to our hearts. We are all deeply saddened by the situation in the country. Many of our Odore team members are currently in Ukraine - their home. We're devastated by what they are going through and pray for them and their families. We had arranged five hotel rooms in Vinnytsia (west-central Ukraine) for our team's safety; due to various circumstances, our team will no longer occupy these rooms. We understand there is a shortage of accommodation in the area and we want to offer this small aid to anyone's family, friends or colleagues that need it. Misclassification? Not today. Contractor misclassification is a serious legal issue resulting in harsh penalties for employers who aren’t legally compliant.
