At the 2022 Business of Resilience conference in London, UK Government Minister @AlokSharma_RDG and @COP26 President spoke about the solutions needed to address two of the ‘greatest structural threats’ to global economic resilience: climate risk and the lack of resilient infrastructure. CCRI greatly welcomes the strong support expressed by the Minister at the event where he singled out the Coalition’s lead role in helping to build a more climate resilient world. #COP26 #DIT #CCRI #climaterisks #ClimateResilience #ResilientInvestment #InfrastructureInvestment #COP26

In an in-depth interview by #thetimes for its special report on the future of infrastructure, #CCRI Executive Director Carlos Sánchez comments on the serious challenge facing the infrastructure sector caused by the resilience gap in financing and the significant progress being made by the Coalition to address this market failure and accelerate investment flows in climate resilience. The latest @IPCC #climatereport stresses the need for both adaptation and mitigation - even if we stop all emissions today, some very significant future climate impacts still remain unavoidable. As recognised in the report, #CCRI is already working with partners across the private and public sectors to deliver the practical solutions required for mobilising capital towards resilience against these climate risks. With the window to adapt rapidly closing, working together to scale up investments in resilient infrastructure in countries most vulnerable and least responsible for climate change is not just important, it is imperative. #CCRI looks forward to welcoming all Coalition members to our Members Meeting on Wednesday 2 March (8.30am-10.00am GMT), with an identical session on Thursday 3 March (17.00-18.30 GMT) to accommodate all time zones. This will be an invaluable opportunity to recognise the incredible progress already made with the support of our members and to look ahead at what our continued collaboration can unlock in the coming years. With an ever increasing membership (currently at 123 members and over $25tn of institutional assets), CCRI is now at its most crucial stage. We are on course to mobilise considerable amounts of existing and new capital towards resilience by COP27 and to launch the first Resilient Infrastructure Fund piloted by the CCRI-backed League of Investment Funds for Resilience (LIFR). #CCRI #climaterisks #ClimateResilience #ResilientInvestment #InfrastructureInvestment

CCRI recently participated in the first Infrastructure Working Group seminar under the G20 Indonesia Presidency 2022. Executive Director Carlos Sanchez presented on the Coalition’s progress in delivering practical solutions for a better pricing of physical climate risks in both up- and downstream infrastructure investment decision-making. Fellow panellists included other CCRI members and important partner initiatives such as #FastInfra. The event, hosted by the Global InfrastructureHub (GIH), benefited from an excellent panel representing both the public and private sectors, which addressed a number of critical topics, including the need for convergence across sustainability and climate standards, outstanding data challenges, and the fundamental difference between climate risk and climate impact. While challenges remain, it was encouraging to perceive an ever-stronger alignment between private and public entities on the strategic value of resilient infrastructure investments. Thanks go to Marie Lam - Frendo and the GIH team for their excellent work on sustainable infrastructure investment and commitment in advancing this important and complex issue. On Adaptation, Loss and Damage day at COP26, #CCRI convened a panel discussion on “Defining and Measuring Systemic Resilience” at the UK Presidency Pavilion. As well as launching Jamaica’s Systemic Resilience Assessment Tool, a panel of public and private sector experts shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of assessing and managing physical climate risks at national level, with a focus on supporting the most vulnerable countries to attract capital for resilience needs. In case you missed it, the session is now available to watch here: https://lnkd.in/dnS34k_M #CCRI #climaterisks #ClimateResilience #ResilientInvestment #COP26

In response to growing demand from the infrastructure investment community for effective solutions to integrate physical climate risks in investing, #CCRI has published the Physical Climate Risk Assessment Methodology (PCRAM). Developed by members of CCRI’s Asset Design & Structuring working group, and championed by #mottmacdonald, this innovative methodology assesses climate impacts and recommends resilience interventions for a given asset. For the first time, investors will be able to assess the resilience of future cash flows. #COP26 left much to reflect on, with the positive response from delegates to our 'Art + Resilience’ exhibition being particularly impactful. Demonstrating the unique role art can play to inspire change, works of art from around the world delivered a powerful visual message about the role of data in delivering meaningful action in response to climate risk. #CCRI looks forward to harnessing this creativity for change as the Coalition continues its mission to develop radical innovations that can be turned into practical solutions at a global scale. With next year's COP to be staged in Africa, solutions that accelerate adaptation and help the most vulnerable countries absorb climate impacts will be front and centre.
