Today, the CCC has released its 2025 report on progress in reducing emissions. Government policies to reduce emissions have improved since last year. With more action, the UK can hit its legally binding climate targets and improve energy security for households and businesses across the UK. Our top recommendation is to make electricity cheaper. This will help people feel the benefits of the transition and speed up the uptake of clean electric technologies, such as heat pumps and electric vehicles. How many investors have shown an interest in a technology that would do this. The obvious answer is zero or you would know about it.
From the report “…aviation now contributes a greater share of total UK emissions than the entire electricity supply sector.”
“Make electricity cheaper” Consumers are going to be paying for Sizewell C a decade or more before it produces electricity. I don’t think the advocates for new nuclear have even started to explain what the impact of this will be on electricity prices, consumers and the wider economy.
Thank you for sharing, a really interesting and inspiring watch.
Great presentation and work. Thanks
Why is invention not funded. Example 94% of hydro energy annually worldwide is ignored. 52PWh annually would make fossil fuels redundant.
Thank you for highlighting the need for increased investment in local government, particularly around transport and energy 🙏 Our newly released Council Climate Action Scorecards look at everything councils are currently doing, and could be doing to tackle the climate emergency, if given the resources and guidance: 💚 https://councilclimatescorecards.uk/
