After leading Hubs for more than 8 years, I’ve decided to pass on the role of CEO to our current COO, Alex Cappy. I've worked closely with Cappy over the past two years, and I am confident that she is the best person to lead Hubs through its next chapter of growth with Protolabs. It was a great adventure and true joy building this incredible company. Together with Brian, Filemon and the amazing Hubs team, we took it from just an idea to the global pioneer in distributed manufacturing. We've now delivered more than 6 million parts to 145,000 customers and built a world-class manufacturing network spread across 20 countries. I’ll continue to stay involved with innovation at Hubs, so you’ll still see me posting about all the exciting things that we're developing!
After a year of preparation, I'm excited to finally announce our company name change from “3D Hubs” to “Hubs” We've created the new Hubs brand to better reflect our broadened manufacturing offer, which now extends well beyond 3D printing. Go check it out at Hubs.com or read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/gGte_zN
Big news!! We just announced the acquisition of 3D Hubs by Protolabs, the global leader in digital manufacturing. With the addition of our manufacturing partner network, together we’re creating the world’s most comprehensive digital manufacturing portfolio. I’d like to thank our users, team and investors for their trust and support over the past 8 years. I will stay on with Protolabs and together with our team look forward to bringing the benefits of this combination to our customers and manufacturing partners. We’ve written this blogpost on the benefits to come:

Corona has exposed the vulnerability of supply chains. At 3D Hubs we believe that distributed manufacturing networks are an important part of the solution and will make supply chains future-proof.

The solution? Distributed manufacturing. Distributed manufacturing allows you to spread your risk and have guaranteed access to a virtually unlimited manufacturing capacity.
