Vietnam has lost more than 50% of its mangrove forests, largely due to expanding shrimp farms. This is among the highest loss ratios in the world. But today, the government is taking action! The Ca Mau Forest Department, in coordination with the Vietnam Sustainable Shrimp Alliance have signed an MOU with Blue Forest to identify methods in which 10,000 Ha of degraded mangrove forests could be restored back to their original health. We are thrilled to be given this opportunity and look forward to adopting innovative solutions to tackle this prevailing threat across Asia. #climateaction #mitigation #bluecarbon #forestfinance

Mangrove ecosystems are rich with life, serving as a bridge between land and sea. They host a remarkable variety of species—over 5,700 plant and animal species have been documented in India's mangroves alone. 🌊🌱 These unique environments connect coastal waters, rivers, and terrestrial ecosystems, highlighting the critical role mangroves play in sustaining biodiversity and food security. At Blue Forest, we are dedicated to preserving these vital ecosystems. Let’s work together to protect and restore mangroves for future generations. 🌍💚 #MangroveConservation #Biodiversity #BlueForest #Sustainability #EcosystemRestoration #ClimateAction

3 billion people around the world rely on the ocean as a primary source of food security. Sadly, as of today, 90% of the planet’s fish stocks are fully exploited or overfished. Something needs to be done! At Blue Forest, we are helping mitigate this planetary threat by starting at the source. It's estimated that about 75% of commercially caught fish in tropical regions spend part of their lifecycle in #mangroves like this one. It's their base. We are helping boost those fish stocks by restoring their mangrove 'homes' and giving them a safe and nourishing place to grow and #thrive. #SDG14 #SaveOurOcean #ClimateAction #BeTheChange

One of the most powerful nature-based tool that we have in combatting climate change is the #mangrove tree. The fact that nearly half of our planet’s remaining mangrove trees are at risk of disappearing, as per the IUCN’s latest report, should be a major cause for concern. Let’s join hands and #restore the 700,000 Ha that have been destroyed and #conserve the mangroves that remain standing. #climateaction #bluecarbon #resilience
🌱The first global assessment by IUCN’s Red List of Ecosystems and partners reveals that over ½ of the world's #mangroves are at risk of collapse. #Climate change, #deforestation, and pollution are just some the threats to these vital ecosystems. Read more ➡ https://bit.ly/3wHiPS5

Here's a great World Economic Forum roadmap written by Whitney Johnston Ph.D. and Estelle Winkleman from Salesforce for those interested in actively supporting #mangrove conservation and restoration projects worldwide. This mangrove movement is being led by the Global Mangrove Alliance, High-Level Climate Champions, Mangrove Alliance for Climate, nearly 50 governments representing almost 60% of the world’s mangroves and 50 non-state actors (including Blue Forest!). A truly global force! #ClimateAction #BCAP #BlueCarbon #OceanAction

Huge announcement by IUCN today: 50% of our planet’s mangrove ecosystems are at risk of collapse! That would have devastating effects on the fisheries sector, coastal resilience and biodiversity health, to name just a few. Of that number, 20% of the assessed mangroves are at high risk, classed as either Endangered or Critically Endangered, as shown in this map, meaning that they are at severe risk of collaps. This is why Blue Forest was founded; saving our planet’s vital mangrove ecosystem is at the heart of everything we do! We need all the help we can get so pls shout if you want to join the Mangrove Movement. https://lnkd.in/ebAAMhJN #climateaction #bluecarbon #mangroves

Wow! Google, Microsoft, Meta and Salesforce have just announced their commitment to purchase 20 million tons of nature-based carbon removal credits by 2030. And it looks like more companies are set to join their Symbiosis Coalition, which is amazing! This means a potential order book of $1 billion for carbon removal pioneers like Blue Forest who are working hard to deliver community-led forest restoration projects. This is great news for Mother Earth and hopefully the start of something much larger for Blue Forest. 👊🏽
