Nurturing leadership is a critical pillar of our culture, demonstrated by the gathering of hundreds of leaders from around the globe in Kansas City last week for our annual Global Leadership Summit. Our focus? Working together to align the next horizons of work that advance sustainable infrastructure solutions for clients across industries and continents. The Leadership Summit provides an annual opportunity to refocus our collective energies around the actions we take that inspire our colleagues, drive growth and lead clients into the future. Chairman and CEO Mario Azar and other leaders explored how to strengthen our culture of #HolisticSafety, shared how we are fostering innovation across our solutions, and championed the can-do mentality that underpins #EmployeeOwnership.
A highlight for all attendees was Black & Veatch Board of Directors member Gregory L. Robinson’s keynote address featuring powerful examples of teamwork from his time as a program director at NASA. Robinson, named one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2022 and a Time 100 Impact Award recipient, highlighted his work leading the successful completion and on-orbit delivery of the $10B James Webb Space Telescope program. Robinson shared how lessons learned from the Columbia shuttle disaster drove him to forge a culture of psychological safety at the agency -- a culture that became a key ingredient to fostering innovation. For our company, these principles continue to be critical to our quality and safety culture, and the legacy of our impact with business partners, regions and communities worldwide.
