If you think kids can only be happy and accomplished with $$ and fancy job titles, then you have the right classes. I’d rather have kids more educated on human being basis, learn empathy, how to manage and keep the best of their emotions, how to use common sense, understand the World, respect the different cultures and be able to deal with them on personal matter, protect the nature/resources, make the Society better, know and apply the basics of leadership (empower people, play as a team, lead by example...), etc...

How about writing? We always forget the importance of being able to conjugate a sentence. You need to understand voice, tense mood, etc., even when sending a text for all of those socially engaged individuals.

#5 - young people are asked to express a career preference so early and with very little information or exposure to various career opportunities generally. More should be done earlier to enable a more informed decision that is tailored to an individual's unique strengths and aptitudes.

Great list Beverly, and agree on financial literacy, maybe with a strong focus on investment strategies. I also believe a semester spent in a work-study program in a third-world country would do a lot of senior US high schoolers a world of good (pun intended) in providing a sense of awareness as well as gratitude.

These are essential things that help in adulthood! I would love to see entrepreneurship taught in high school! Everyone isn't created to be worker, which is what I believe most schools teach.

Absolutely, completely agree! I would also add general information on auto ownership, maintenance and care (where is the VIN, what is insurance for, what does it cover)
