The U.S. needs a workforce that is trained for semiconductor jobs of the future. That means, we need #STEMM educators who are prepared to train students to pursue an education that leads to careers in these high-tech roles. Currently, there are systemic barriers in K-12 education that prevent young people, particularly those in underrepresented and rural communities, from gaining access to STEMM opportunities. The Micron Foundation remains committed to doing our part to make #STEMMForAll a reality. As a sign of our ongoing support, yesterday, at the White House Summit on STEMM Equity and Excellence I was proud to announce the Micron Foundation's $5 million investment to support STEMM educators. This investment is in partnership with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and will accelerate the preparation and training of new STEMM teachers, support the retention of existing STEMM educators, and advance the overall aim of increasing diversity and equity in the STEMM teacher workforce as they work to educate the future of America and prepare them for a career in the technology industry. https://lnkd.in/eahgE6Ca
We have to be committed to closing the digital chasm or we will knowingly and willingly exclude > 20% of society.
April - I continue to celebrate you with admiration from my local perch right here in Meridian. Still hoping to join forces with you and others along the same educational lines. I have a good amount of semiconductor recruiting experience - my first client ever was National Seniconductor wayyyy back in the 90’s. Even though I am only 25 and forever holding! My company Mastech Digital and I have a great deal of reach and connection to talent both local, nearshore, offshore and especially onshore with a 20+ year pipeline to Silicon Valley’s finest. But you and I believe in the same things - Education and training up our next generation. How can we help you in your mission? We celebrate you April. #keepitup, #MastechDigital
Perhaps even a step back is prudent as parenting perhaps needs to be addressed in terms of math stigma and anxiety. Technical professionals and other stakeholders need to remind People that math skills are highly sought-after attribute in today's society. So I would suggest that People Officers and others mount a campaign related to parents and math anxiety.
How about we do a partnership at the Big Sky Championships in March with Micron sponsoring young people promoting STEMM. Pair it with a college recruiting event in September around our Basketball tipoff live event. Let’s talk. It’s in your backyard.
April Arnzen it is companies like Micron Technology and leaders such as yourself and Sanjay that will help lead the US back to the land of opportunities and our motto of Empowering Equality through Technology. 2022 VETCON and standing with my Sisters and Brothers in Arms and Business surrounded by Devil Dogs, Airborne Rangers, and Titan wearing bearded warriors helped me reshine my Cross Pistols for my last self-designated mission. As one of the newest NY SDVOB's and SDVOSB's Bits2ifs LLC (B2i) is proud to lead the way to provide the next generation of Cyber and IT innovators to better secure our community, farms, schools, and Veterans. Keep up the great work!
Very glad to see Micron supporting this important initiative, in addition to all the work you already do to support education.
Micron was my first employer in the technology industry, though I've had a few since then. It was all through a random stroke of luck that I fell into a STEM career and I'm glad it started at Micron.
This is a good project to secure our future generations,I want to be a member of this movement
No Longer Looking - Still very busy
2yThere are a lot of barriers. I was trained as an industrial arts/technology teacher with most emphasis in technology. There were no jobs for technology in my state. The schools that had that were already staffed, and most other schools just did not have the funds for anything like that. Technology is always an elective in most schools, so there just is not enough students to support many teachers. I went back into industry.
