I recently created a post in which I posted the screenshot of another post where the Founder and CEO of Instahyre, Aditya Rajgarhia publicly tried to blame a candidate because he rejected their offer. But I deleted it since I forgot to hide the candidate's name in that post. So I am re-posting. Also, I got more insights from the candidate as to why he rejected it which is really shocking. I seriously don't believe companies are working with such unprofessional and unethical behaviors. Companies just feel that once they have extended an offer to someone, they have bought them completely. They can ask them to do whatever they want. They are not looking for employees but rather slavery. They can easily go to an extent that might even create harm to one's whole career. This founder did not even think for a bit about what harm his post can create to the candidate. Even actually, he has threatened him earlier only. He had sent him the following clauses while accepting the offer: - You will need to sign and return within 24 hours, after which we won't consider it. - As you may be aware, unfortunately, many people don't join even after signing the offer letter. We have very low regard for this, due to which the offer letter contains a clause that once you sign it if you don't join then you pay us a month's salary, and if we revoke it for any reason other than reference check issues, we pay you a month's salary. - We also maintain a publicly viewable list of such defaulters. Such shameful and pathetic policies. They are clearly threatening candidates that they will publicly announce. He is calling rejecting an offer unethical and does not look at what he himself is doing! Who would like to join such a company and work with such a person? I just feel sad for his current employees. #work #career #people #culture #ceo #startup #unethical #unprofessional #pathetic

Want to work on something completely from scratch (Like literally right from setting up the services)? On a completely new charter (It can become next AWS for Amazon)? On something in which there is literally nothing in production right now (That also means no call until next year)? In a team where everyone would start at similar times (so you will not have to learn past business domain first)? So, here is the opportunity for exactly such a team. I am hiring aggresively for my own team at Amazon where you get an oppotunity to solve problems at scale by working on great low level and high level designs right from requirements phase till deployment. And I will be reviewing each and every resume by myself personally. Have already processed many resumes in last few months. Please fill the form if you want to apply. Link of the form is in the comments. Please check the skills mentioned for each role at the top of the form. PS: There is a cool-off period check that happens, so please apply only if you haven't applied in last 6 months through any mechanism. #hiring #hiringengineers #backendengineer #backend #career #careers #amazon #faang #java #javadeveloper #scalability #hld #lld #algorithms #datastructures #systemdesign #jobs #joboppurtunities #jobopening #coding #code

Live Discussion on "Cracking interviews of Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, Coinbase, Oracle, Media.net, etc." Prakhar Agrawal recently cracked interviews of so many companies including top companies like Google, Microsoft, Coinbase, Salesforce, Oracle, etc. I feel he would have a lot to share from his experience of these interviews. So, please join us at 5 PM today live and get your doubts cleared from him. We will discuss multiple things like: * How did he prepare for these companies? * What are all resources he used? * What kind of rounds were there in these companies? * What should be the preparation strategy? * What was the difficulty of the questions? etc. etc. We will be taking up live questions also. Many times I get to hear from people that the kind of problems they are solving in their work are not challenging. They never got an opportunity to work on something from scratch and be involved in a product right from the beginning where you can be a part of all the org decision being made. Few hours back, I was in a temple today (visited because navratri are going on) and one uncle met. He knew me already because he is a good friend of my father. He instantly introduced me to other people standing there as: Aap logo ko pta h ki Udit Amazon me kaam krta h? (English translation: Do you all know that Udit works at Amazon?). and I could feel that respect I was getting from everyone. Everyone was just congratulating me for this achievement. Thanks to Amazon for building such a great rapport among your customer base that your employees are also valued so much! "Design the database schema for an online ticketing system like BookMyShow" is one of the most common interview questions that is asked in the interviews these days. The major expectations from such a question are: * Covering different use cases like theatres, movies, seats, bookings, prices, etc. * Designing a normalized schema with proper tables and relationships between them. * How to handle concurrent seat booking problems to ensure no single seat is used for 2 people? * How to support blocking seats for a short duration like 15 mins * How to handle auto-expiry of those blocks. I am doing a masterclass on this topic this weekend. We will be solving the exact same problem in this discussion. We will cover everything practically by taking examples, etc during the discussion. We will also see what different ways for seat locking are there and their pros-cons. The link for registration is in the first comments. #database #design #interview #softwareengineers #software #faang #career #job #coding

My response to the recruiters of the companies where I have had a bad experience. We need to start valuing ourselves. #experience #recruitement #recruiters #hiring #interviewexperience #interviews #jobs

Most Common scenarios when I interview candidates: Candidate: I will use NoSQL db because it is more scalable and faster. Me: Why is it faster? Why SQL is slower and can't provide scalability? Candidate: No idea. Completely blank or some random answers like because nosql stores in json format so it is easier for it. And many more like such :( Having in-depth understanding of concepts is really important! Without that, you will never be able to do scalable backend designs. But do you also face challenges while designing storage layer in your system design interviews? And thats why I am coming up with this 2 session masterclass where I will start right from the basics and tell you all about building scalable storages, nuances of various approaches, etc. Link to agenda and other details can be found at in the comments. #scalability #design #interview #nosql #like #sql #database #faang #systemdesign #engineering
