Today, Anera's Gaza team distributed enough food aid to support 142,800 meals. They also distributed 510 bags of flour and 6,120 water bottles, provided by Global Empowerment Mission. The team also put together 500 food parcels using food aid provided by our partner Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI). These parcels contained 3 kilos of rice and yogurt (jameed) and included two chickens, bought in #Gaza with funds from Islamic Relief USA. The food went to displaced families in Rafah. With the rice, yogurt and chicken, Anera’s community kitchen at the Rafah crossing made enough mansaf – a traditional Palestinian dish – for 3,000 people. This was a special meal for Ramadan. Anera received in Gaza today a shipment of 272 tents and started distribution of an Americares shipment, containing vital, rarely found chronic medication for diabetes and hypertension. The shipment is truly life-saving for many patients suffering from chronic conditions. Sean C. Carroll Muhammad Atieh Nisreen Khalaf Mohenad Ghassan Itayim

In Gaza, around 2.2 million people, nearly the entire population, is now in urgent need of food assistance. We are distributing fresh bread, canned food and ready-to-eat meals to those in shelters. Please support our response: $75 can provide a family with a WFP emergency box containing enough food for an entire month. Make your 100% tax-deductible emergency contribution now. #Gaza #Palestine

Humanitarian access is a basic right not to be asked for. Denying access should be a crime against humanity. Go for it WFP. as the latest humanitarian institution.
🆘 Our deepest fears in #Sudan have materialized: The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification Famine Review Committee has confirmed famine in Zamzam camp, North Darfur, with 13 other regions at imminent risk. A region enters IPC Phase 5 (Famine) when: 🔺Over 20% of households face extreme food shortages. 🔺Over 30% of children suffer from acute malnutrition. 🔺The daily mortality rate exceeds 2 per 10,000 people, or 4 per 10,000 children under five. This classification means people are dying of hunger. To prevent famine from spreading, WFP urgently calls for unrestricted access to deliver humanitarian food assistance. We need guarantees of safe passage for aid workers to reach communities in dire need. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ewcF-nKw

This is utterly devastating. I have been to these places and held these children and their parents as they suffered. This is the apathetic indifference of evil personified and taken to a global scale. Please note that the food aid is being paused because of LACK OF FUNDS. Think about that. Yemen is the country with the highest famine risk in the world outside of Somalia. And there isn’t enough money available from the entire global community to continue to offer basic services and support to keep children from starving to death. TO DEATH. In the 4 months that it will take to potentially resume distribution the suffering will be near unimaginable and the numbers of resulting dead children should call into question the idea of a fundamental human decency.

Gaza needs more food coming in. Most kids are starving. Feeding the children directly needs to happen right away. It's out of love to share food so children don't starve. "One thing that must happen is: food needs to come in regularly through different border crossings. But, when I say food needs to come in, other essential commodities, like water, like medicine, like fuel—all of these things need to come in, and they need to come in adequate amounts. The second thing is that people need to have access to that food, whether it is through humanitarian aid or commercial channels. People need to be able to secure it. This is why, for us, what’s critically important is not only the ability to actually bring in these commodities but also the ability to actually take it to the people, wherever they are. It’s not good enough to say, “Here’s the food, and it is in the country.” If we cannot reach the people where they are to provide that assistance, it’s not going to work. And this is why people keep talking about having a humanitarian ceasefire, which would allow us not only to bring in food and other essential commodities but also to actually distribute them in a safe way. If you have food coming in but you cannot distribute it, it’s as good as food not coming in." https://lnkd.in/enC-WWYh #gaza #palestine #humanity #children

WFP seeks N$228 million to tackle Namibia’s escalating hunger crisis The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched an urgent appeal for N$228 million (US$13 million) to address Namibia’s growing food insecurity crisis. According to a release by the WFP, while N$17.57 million (US$1 million) has already been secured, it still requires 93% of the total N$228 million to fully implement the program and alleviate the escalating hunger crisis. Without urgent support, Namibia’s most vulnerable populations will face dire conditions in the months ahead. https://lnkd.in/du4J7ASX #namibia #hunger #population #foodinsecurity
