Conny van Ravenswaaij-Arts and Michael Schon presented the European guideline on Phelan-McDermid syndrome at the II European conference about Phelan-McDermid in Madrid this weekend. They did such a good job explaining the purposes of the guideline and the integration of parental perspectives in all stages of the guideline. Allison Turner and Rui Barbosa Guedes stressed the importance of the parental perspective as lived experience representatives of the European consortium. We presented three posters. Two posters based on the guideline, recommendations on sleep issues and the guideline parental survey. And a poster on evaluating treatment efficacy of intranasal insulin in Phelan-McDermid syndrome. It was incredible to be a part of this immense project with all of these motivated and experienced people. We will rock on 🤟 in Ulm, Germany in October! Happy Monday Friends, As February, which is American Heart Association ❤️ month, comes toward its end, I found this longgg video from last year and thought I'd share a portion of it. Ive received messages from people about their loved ones who've suffered a stroke, and the aftermatg of its impact. 😔 T.he utmost takeaway is to urge heightened awareness. There is so much to cover on this subject and a helpful acronym to remember is FAST. F- Face- look for any facial changes, such as drooping and inability to move one or both sides. A- Arms- Look for any changes, such as inability to move arms freely, usually happens on one side While strokes do affect brain tissue, its origin is cardiovascular (CV) and then it's become both CV and neurological. S- Speech- slurred speech or inability to speak or articulate words. T- Time- time is of the essence and calling 911 is imperative to render care as fast as possible Wisjing everyonea hearthealthylife. #gored.

This is based on historical facts. We had researchers who did these tremendous animal models that clearly demonstrated... "Whoa, we've been mistaken." They did a series of animal model research where they subjected animal models to a variety of different sleep deprivation stages. Absolute sleep deprivation, selective reduction of sleep, and progressive sleep deprivation. You wanna know what they found? Rodent models that were absolutely sleep deprived died within 2 to 4 weeks. The next group, died within 4 to 6 weeks. The last group didn't die immediately, but rather experienced a hyper-metabolic state, developed hypothermia, and were unable to control their temperature regulation. They then developed some ulcerations of the skin and of the GI tract, which ultimately resulted in an overwhelming infection resulting in death by sepsis. Check out todays episode (https://lnkd.in/gmHhERdB) to learn more about this study discussed by Anne Marie Morse and Matthew Allard

I help companies keep their employees' eyes in fantastic shape for better health and peak work performance. Follow me for eye wellness tips.
“I don’t need an eye test. My eyes feel healthy.” Are you sure? 👀 The annoying thing about eye conditions is they don’t physically manifest until it’s too late. Eye exams are future tellers. They pick up issues months or years before it becomes a serious problem, making them easier to fix. The test will catch non-eye conditions that interfere with vision - such as diabetes and high BP, that damage the retina. We have a habit of putting eye strain and headaches down to stress or tiredness. That could be true, but why take the risk? Your eyes are a prized asset. The means by which you work, play and soak in the world around you. If it’s been more than two years since your last test - you know what to do! ------------------- I’m Imranali, and I’m obsessed with making sure YOU look after your eyes. SATURDAY NIGHT PALSY The Saturday night palsy has become with radial nerve compression in the arm resulting from direct pressure against a firm object. It typically follows deep sleep on the arm, often after alcohol intoxication. The commonly accepted origin of the phrase is the association own think that the term Saturday night palsy was introduced mistakenly as a simplification of saturnine palsy (much like the way the word palsy was shortened from paralysis). Saturnine palsy, which is a relatively common complication of lead poisoning, has the same clinical presentation of radial nerve compression, and Saturday night palsy even sounds like saturnine palsy. Moreover, Saturday, lead, carousing, and alcohol are associated with each other through their connection to Saturn, the Roman god of agriculture, which encourages the association of the two syndromes with one another.Saturday night palsy is primarily focused on physical rehabilitation; a soft wrist splint that maintains the wrist extended during physical therapy. Nevertheless, it is essential that one allow for passive range of motion of the affected extremity during rehabilitation, which a dynamic splint can provide. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #snscollegeofphysiotherapy
