California calls state of emergency
California has declared a state of emergency. Governor Gavin Newsom says the order will allow every available resource to be deployed as the state battles dozens of wildfires and a stifling heat wave. The state is also battling rolling blackouts which have darkened businesses and residential homes since the weekend. The crisis is augmented by millions of residents sheltering in place — with air conditioners blasting — to avoid coronavirus infection.
- Southern California's Death Valley hit a 130 degrees Sunday – the hottest temperature recorded in the area since July 1913, according to the Weather Service.
- Los Angeles is anticipating temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit every day through Friday.

Part of the problem is that California shares the "Grid" with some other western states like Nevada. Perhaps, California needs to build its own grids, one for NorCal, another for SoCal and maybe a 3rd for Central Valley and all other parts of CA not covered in a SoCal and NorCal grids. So, the infrastructure issue has been ignored for too long in highways, bridges, and - yes - grids.
