Even before the pandemic, business schools knew change was coming. At that time, a strong job market had led to enrollment declines. Now, MBA programs are bracing for massive shifts in how, where and when they teach, reports The Wall Street Journal's Patrick Thomas. Expect shorter, more flexible programs, and an emphasis on lifelong learning. Stalwart institutions like Harvard and Columbia are seeing jumps in online program enrollment. And schools are preparing for a world where students opt into ongoing, subscription-style business education, where they brush up on skills as they progress through their careers.
