Netflix has long been Hollywood's much-envied innovator, "spearheading a revolution" in how we consume film and TV. Yet, the streaming behemoth faces a conundrum: it's losing subscribers, its share price is sagging and it lacks buzzy shows, writes The New York Times. Netflix's response to this turmoil is raising eyebrows in Hollywood and on Wall Street. Instead of focusing on improving content, it is cracking down on password sharing and introducing the one thing most consumers loathe about its competitors — advertising.
- The streamer faced significant outages last week when it launched the final two episodes of its current top show, "Stranger Things." More than 14,000 outages were logged globally, Bloomberg reports.
