Homebuilder confidence warming up

Homebuilders are once again tipping toward an optimistic outlook, based on a new survey by the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index. It found confidence in the market for newly built single-family homes rose 5 points in May to 50, the index's bare minimum for positive sentiment. It is the fifth straight monthly increase, and the first time builder sentiment has been positive in nearly a year, CNBC reports. But challenges remain for residential real estate and construction amid banking crises, higher interest rates, supply shortages and the cost of lumber decreasing since March.
