#OpentoWork: Today I received the dreaded notice that my role at Twitter has been impacted by the mass layoffs, as have most of my coworkers (in fact, half the company). Although I only had the pleasure of working for the bird app for a year, the time was invaluable. From representing Twitter at SXSW, crafting our product and consumer narratives, and telling unique #OnlyOnTwitter stories to launching beloved global products like Twitter Circle and the edit button, (and through all the chaos of the past few months), one thing remained clear: Tweeps are the most resilient, inclusive, smart, funny, open and sharp individuals I have ever experienced in any company. And our Twitter Communications team is no different - their strategic input, empathy, creativity, and willingness to show up at 100% every single day no matter what was deeply motivating. I am so lucky and so grateful to have had the chance to be part of this team and learn and grow every day with my amazing colleagues. It's time to find my next step, continue to shine, and bring my experience and expertise to a new company. With that being said, I am open to discussing any leads or open/upcoming comms and PR positions you think may be of interest. See you on the timeline! #Twitter #Communications #PR #PublicRelations #Looking #openfornewopportunities #comms #lookingforwork #publicity
3.5 years at Twitter and my goodness what an incredible ride and journey it has been. Hands down THE best experience with the best team of humans to produce the best community building and inclusive marketing experiences for the culture. It was the honor of my life to be able to champion for voices and communities around the world by centering their experiences and culture in order to make sure everything Twitter produced reflected the authenticity, beauty, strength, dynamism and resilience of our people. The Culture and Community team together WITH our #TwitterVoices built the foundation and industry standard of how to thoughtfully recognize, serve and amplify historically marginalized communities. We led with heart, challenged ourselves to dig deeper, got uncomfortable, listened without ego, solved for impact, grounded ourselves in insights and then layered in the vibes of the CULTURE. Our team NEVER wavered in our mission even in the final days when uncertainty loomed. We buckled up, SPOKE UP and locked in. #ProudAF of us and what we created together. Forever grateful for our entire team of superheroes 💙 To our forever #TwitterVoices, y’all made Twitter, TWITTER. The best of what the platform is came from your clever, witty, hilarious, profound, justice seeking, uplifting, passionate, thought provoking and special use of 280 characters. History books will reflect your tweets and your much needed voice during the times our communities needed it most. Thank you for joining us on the journey and for always holding us accountable and always holding us UP. Every campaign, experience, launch, event, virtual hang & meeting had your indelible mark all over it and that made each activation better, but more importantly it made the world around us better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️ Lastly of all the things, I’ll hold near and dear during my time was that at NO point was I ever asked or required to be a shell of myself. In fact, many times when I tried to “put my head down and work” there was an army of Tweeps and leaders that bamboozled me 🤣 into shining brighter and requiring me to take up more space. They reminded me that I don’t have the luxury of silence when my voice was needed in a space or room. I’ll make sure to keep that same energy wherever I land next. The list of gratitude is long and I can’t even begin the process of thanking all of the Tweeps that have made my Twitter experience top tier. You know who you are and y’all are stuck with me for life babbbyyyy BUT without a doubt I wouldn’t have had this experience without the yes, belief and trust of @GodisRivera @!@NolaBeth and @leslieberland Thank you for everything. ♾️💙 Life is Generous and God continues to be the GREATEST. P.S. I’m still the Global Head of Culture and Community… just not at Twitter see the thing is when your heart has always been built around the culture and being FOR the community the role is always mine. No one can take that from me ✨
Still hard to believe that I was amongst 50% of the employees affected due to layoffs at Twitter. I got logged off company Gmail and slack in the evening along with my whole amazing teammates. No communication or notice. We together have achieved so much together: Twitter Professional Accounts from 0 to 11 Million in less than 2 years, shipping more awesome features for businesses and creators.... It was a true privilege to work with such a talented, hardworking, and kind group of people at Twitter. My heart goes to all the fellow Tweeps impacted due to today's layoffs 💙 #OneTeam #LoveWhereYouWorked I am actively looking for new opportunities in the backend software engineering. I have around 2 years of professional working experience. Layoff comes with a deadline for employees like me on H1 Visa, and I have around 60 days to find a new role in the United States. If you are hiring or would like to share open positions, please feel free to comment below or message me on LinkedIn and email me at ashleyqlu228@gmail.com #twitter #layoff #SWE #Softwareengineer #h1b #backend #python #java #scala #usa #tweep #hiring #openforwork #referral
Hey folks, I was part of the layoffs at Twitter today. The hardest part is knowing that a lot of talented, thoughtful, and empathetic Tweeps were impacted through no fault of their own. There's a ton of amazing people floating around out there. Don't miss this opportunity to snatch them up. And I guess I'm out here in the wilderness now too. Let me know the best places looking for product leaders out there. I'm ready to tackle a new challenge!
My time at #twitter was much shorter than I hoped - the job I signed up for exactly one year ago turned into a rollercoaster (to say the least) of twists and turns, uncertainties, chaos and most importantly, a wild, amazing ride with the best #comms team in the biz. I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m better for it! I’m not exactly sure what’s next, but I can only hope my next role is as fulfilling and memorable as this one was. If anyone in my network is hiring for comms related roles in the tech and fintech sectors, please think of me! I’m excited and incredibly optimistic for what’s to come🙏
Lots of really great people left Twitter today, people who shaped a company and did difficult work every day, bringing creativity, care and integrity to their work. If you’re hiring and would like connections to them, please let me know. If you’re no longer a Tweep and I can help at all - get in touch. Grateful for the experiences we shared, and excited to see what you all accomplish. It’s not goodbye, it’s a new adventure.
My journey with Twitter was short but filled with Action. I left Meta in early April, a job that I loved, enjoyed and cared about for my next opportunity to grow in my career. Literally the week I joined Twitter, the intent of the acquistion was announced and it was a wild ride from day 1. Today I was impacted by the 50% workforce reduction (3700 employees) but I don’t feel as overwhelmed as I had initially feared. Largely due to the fantastic #Tweeps community. Being on a work visa significantly reduces your chances to get a job and also makes you insecure, but what it also does is prepare you for the worst possible scenario. I definitely saw this coming and have been interviewing for the past few weeks with some good leads. But having said that, I am open to anyone who would like to have a chat and is hiring for Product Managers, Program Managers, Strategy & Operations. I am confident that I will be fine because of the community I am fortunate to be a part of and the relationships I have built over the years. #Tweeps #lovewhereyouwork #oneteam #opentowork
Looks like Elon has plans for me to move on. I’ve been impacted by Twitters layoffs. It was an amazing experience but it’s not the same company and is for the best. Glad to look at other opportunities if anyone is aware of anything. Let’s see what’s next in this amazing journey in life!? #twitterupdate #opentowork
My 3 years at the bird app have come to a close. I’ve had a lot of 1sts at Twitter and wanted to give #gratitude to everyone who’s been part of the success I’ve had in that time especially my manager Kai Zhu. I was part of an extremely talented team of #engineers working on unique challenges many of whom are now in search of a job. We owned some of the largest-scale datasets/services at Twitter that sit in the critical revenue path. If you need a talented engineer or two, there were 12 of us that were let go. I’d be happy to provide managerial references for those directly reporting to me and peer references for the others. #oneteam
Like many of my colleagues, I also was given the news that today would be my last day as a Sr Technical Recruiter at Twitter. If any of you hear of or know of Senior / Lead / Staff Recruiting roles, I or others in my Twitter circles would definitely have interest. I'd be more than happy to connect you to everyone I'm aware of affected by the RIF. I have an avid interest myself in anything related to gaming, artificial intelligence, software engineering, or the creative space. Twitter was an amazing place to work that cared about it's employees and I'll miss the caliber of folks that were employed there. Everyone was friendly, intelligent, and the work was incredibly exciting and world-changing. I'm sad to see it end, though excited about what it may lead to next. #twitter #layoffs #lovedwhereyouwork #oneteam #recruiting #artificialintelligence #gamingjobs #gaming #machinelearning #tweep #twitterposts #R4R #sourcing
On my very first day at Twitter, it was announced that Elon Musk had purchased the company. Today, I was emailed that I am potentially impacted by redundancies from the acquisition. No matter what happens, I'm very proud of the short time I've been at Twitter. It's always hard to adjust to a new job - let alone a new job, in a new sector, in a new country. But that difficulty was definitely exacerbated from the looming uncertainty, collective anxiety, and intense public attention the company was facing. Despite this, my manager noted that I led projects that would normally be too complex for a new employee. My enthusiasm and curiosity was also noted, even amidst an objectively chaotic time in the company. To be honest, as sad as I would be to leave Twitter, I know that I will also welcome the next challenge with the same energy. I'm staying positive and curious, while also seeing what other new opportunities in Trust & Safety and policy are out there. #OpenToWork for #TrustandSafety roles!
After 8.5 years my time at Twitter has come to a bittersweet end. My time at Twitter has been amazing and I have worked with and alongside some of the most amazing people in the business. I've navigated layoffs, office closures, office openings, led change management comms, among many other things. In the last year alone, our small Internal Comms team has shown resilience as we prepared for what was looming. We navigated leadership changes, budget cuts, and faced many challenges, but did so with empathy for our Tweeps. I started as an intern doing external communications in Dublin, and I'm finishing as a Sr. Internal Communications Manager in the US. What's next? I'm taking a well earned break and then I'll see where my next path takes me. Tweeps you made Twitter, you made me want to go to work everyday. The Twitter Dublin office was a very special place and I don't think anything will ever come close to that for me. No matter what happens you should all know how amazing you are and I hope you truly understand the impact you all had on me over the last number of years. For now, I'm signing off from the bird app. #OneTeam #LoveWhereYouWorked

Unfortunately, I was impacted by the Twitter layoffs. I took the risk and have no regrets as I met so many wonderful, talented people during my short time there. But now I'm open to new roles again! Please let me know if you are hiring for a design leadership role.
A few thoughts: 1) Feeling incredible gratitude for my time at Twitter 2) Twitter presented a master class in leading with empathy. I have never seen a group of folks care so deeply for each other despite the "macro" stresses, personal disagreements, and all. At first I was amazed by it. Then I got a bit concerned by how such a culture could thrive in this cut-throat business climes. And now? I am incredibly grateful for this experience. 3) I thought that my last gig at Magic Leap was quite the ride. Twitter showed up and said, "Hold my beer." No regrets. 4) I'll be taking a much needed break and focusing on other things (painting, writing, riding, and anything else that does not require being tethered to a laptop). I'll also be dedicating time to other personal projects. N/b (late addition just because folks are asking): Me and Adaeze T. are good. My heart does go out to those who may not be ok. #gratitude #grateful (Using hashtags because LinkedIn suggested them to me, and because that's what the cool kids are doing these days)
I’m officially unemployed. At least the uncertainty is over. I’m so grateful for the overwhelming amount of support I’ve received! Thank you to everyone @ Twitter that helped me get through the past almost 3 years and Covid with two little ones. I’ll be forever grateful and proud to have made it through that journey. My hope for the tweeps remaining is that you hold true to the values and culture that brought you to Twitter and made it what it was and still could be. To all the tweeps that received their pink slips today: hold your head up high. You will forever hold a special place not with just your teams that will have the impossible task of filling that void somehow, but with all the people that have come and gone from Twitter. #oneteamforever 🫡
Rough timeline day seeing so many #Tweeps posting their farewell messages. I can only imagine how sleepless last night was for everyone — and how challenging these last few months of distracting drama have been. For those let go today, you might not appreciate it just yet but the Twitter Alumni Network is big and strong and available to help, whether you are saying goodbye after 10 years of 10 days. Need an intro? Done. Need to vent? Done. There’s a community waiting for you. Be proud of all you did, and know this just makes your story stronger. 💙
Well, I went down with the ship in the most recent mass layoff at Twitter. It was a good run; my team was responsible for bringing you moments of creative delight on the platform. We just recently wrapped up a huge re-design of our Emoji system which has already started to add pops of color to the timeline; a career defining project for me as it was instrumental in laying the groundwork for creative systems, far and wide. I managed a team of illustrators and animators as well as fostered incredible working relationships with award winning studios around the world. This is my passion and I’ll miss clocking into the bird app every day. #lovewhereyouworked If you or anyone you know is looking for an organized leader, a people person, protector of creative integrity.. general “get-shit-done” type, hit me up. I want to work!
To my former Tweeps(💙) and Stripes, it is tough to see the impact on you all at Twitter and Stripe these last couple days. I am here to help, if I can. Planet is hiring across multiple teams. It is an awesome place to work with an incredible mission. Please let me know if you want to discuss a role. I am also happy to make connections elsewhere. Please reach out!
Tweeps impacted by the layoffs, my dms are open. I can help with resume editing, interview prep, references (if we’ve worked together) or anything else to help you land on your feet! Please reach out ✨ #lovewhereyouwork #oneteam
Much like many of my colleagues/fellow Tweeps, I was impacted by the company-wide layoffs last night. The only way I can describe these past 13 months @ Twitter is: life-changing. I am so unbelievably blessed to have been part of an organization with such passionate, talented, funny, caring, and overall amazing colleagues. From an intern to an analyst, this has been quite the journey. As deeply saddened as I am that this chapter is over, I am equally thrilled for what’s next 🙂 To my fellow Twitter family and alumni: thank you for making this such an amazing experience for me. We truly are a family. To my manager Kashia Dunner and VP Sinéad McSweeney: thank you endlessly for your leadership. I am incredibly fortunate to have witnessed and learned from it and been a part of your team(s). 💙 To my network: If you are hiring, look no further than former Twitter employees. They are absolutely the people you want on your team. #LoveWhoYouWorkedWith 💙
