Course Transcript
- Microsoft Windows has been installed on millions and millions of PCs ever since it was first released. With the release of Windows 10, Windows now can power devices of all kinds, from the Xbox One, tablets, desktops, laptops, smartphones, Internet of Things devices, and even augmented reality with products like the HoloLens. To support such a wide variety of devices, a new way to build applications needed to be created. And that is called the Universal Windows Platform. As a developer you can use the Universal Windows Platform, or UWP, to create apps that can work on any of the devices I mentioned earlier. Using the Windows SDK, Visual Studio, and the C# programming language, you can create applications for the entire Windows 10 ecosystem. Hi there, I'm Doug Winnie, and in this course I'll introduce you to the Universal Windows Platform and the tools and technologies you'll use to build Windows apps. Along the way you'll learn the C# programming language that is widely popular and valuable for Windows development, as well as for other platforms and technologies. When you're finished with this course you will have your very own Universal Windows app that you can install on your Windows 10 device and show off. Plus, I'll give you some ideas on how you can take your app further and use your new programming skills to iterate and learn how to do more with Windows 10 and the Universal Windows Platform.
