  • Role: Cyber Security Consultant

     

    Location:        

    Months 1-6: Bath, UK                        

    Months 6-12: Reading for UK Graduates, or many other countries for foreign candidates

     

    Duration: 12 months Fixed Term Contract. If successful, full time permanent employment

     

    Start Date:  August or September 2016

     

    Hours: Core hours are 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday

     

    Salary: £18,500 during training, accommodation will be included for the first 6 months, after which the graduate will receive an increase in pay to source their own accommodation. After 12 months a significant salary increase to £30,000+  

     

    The Role:

    Computer Network Defence Ltd (CND) are a Cyber Security Consultancy covering a broad spectrum of capabilities. CND are partnering with Cisco to identify and train a team of 8-12 Graduates to provide the Cyber Security specialists of the future.

    Please note that non-graduates may also apply if they have equivalent skills and a passion for cyber security.

     

    The CND Cisco Academy is designed to accelerate a graduate’s entry into the world of Cisco Security by submerging them into some intensive training on a number of Cisco Security products such that after 6 months they can be paired with a Cisco mentor, mostly from the UK, though some are from other countries if they fancy moving abroad.

    As the graduates will be moving on at the 6-month point, they will be responsible for finding their own accommodation, though CND will continue to help and support . Their Cisco mentor will provide on the job training and invaluable experience in customer facing engagements, leading them ever further towards permanent employment with Cisco.

    The first 6 months will be based in Bath, during this time the graduate will receive technical training and support to develop their professional and soft skills. CND will source and fund accommodation for the initial period, aiming to house as many of the Graduates together for mutual support, however graduates wishing to source their own accommodation may be permitted to do so.

     

    Some of the training proposed by Cisco will include many of the following:

    • Cisco Sourcefire Intrusion Prevention System
    • Cisco FirePOWER Threat Defense (FTD)
    • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
    • Cisco Firewalls
    • Cisco Identity Access Management
    • Cisco Web Security Appliance and Email Security Appliance (WSA/ESA)
    • Cisco Lancope StealthWatch
    • Cisco ThreatGRID
    • Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) network and endpoint
    • Cisco CCNA, CCNA Security and possibly CCNP

     

    The technical training will be intensive though it will he interspersed with some soft skills training to increase the graduates effectiveness as consultants. After 12 months the performance of the graduate will be assessed with a view to offering permanent employment with Cisco. The salary offered will depend upon the demonstrated capability and attitude. If they are not accepted by Cisco, CND’s recruitment team will try to offer them an alternate place to work.

    • Passion and ability for cyber security is pivotal
    • Personality is essential! We are looking for someone who considers themselves entrepreneurial, ethical, honest, well-presented, outgoing, organised, professional and possesses a good sense of humour!
    • Must be self-motivated, driven to succeed and able to communicate. We keep in touch with our clients and peers, therefore excellent communication skills both written and spoken may be tested.
    • You must be able to demonstrate an excellent level of emotional intelligence which allows you to converse naturally with others of all ages, culture, seniority and intellect.
    • Cyber Security/ Forensics/ Network Security or equivalent
    • Degree educated - 2:1 ideally. Equivalent skills and passion will be accepted by non-University educated applicants. Military service is deemed equivalent to a 2:1 degree Undergo criminal records check and background checks
    • Car owner / driver desirable.
