ITCA recognizes that the Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming and Non-Binary Communities have long been under-served by the Community at large and by health care providers in particular. Additionally, there has been limited research and training of providers in this field of transgender health care. ITCA is committed in advancing the field of transgender health care and of those diverse professionals and community supporters committed to enhancing the lives of transgender, transsexual and gender non-conforming people in all cultural settings.
Established in 2012, the International Transgender Certification Association is the FIRST Training Program created to specifically certify Therapists and Professionals in their fields to work with Gender Expansive Populations.
The concept of creating a training to introduce and educate on the expansiveness of gender was inspired through a conversation between a cis- gender female therapist and an influential trans woman, who had just recently developed a conference around this very topic. So inspired by their passion to make this training a reality, they assembled a “dream team” of other professionals; professionals and therapists, who through their own work with the Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming and Non-Binary Communities, they would found and establish the Transgender Certification Program. The focus of which, is to enlarge the existing network of service providers for a diverse Gender Expansive Community. ITCA’s mission is to offer the education, training, and certification for the delivery of professional, ethical and knowledgeable care.
The curriculum began with a 2011 study by Gary Gates of the Williams Institute which estimated that 0.3% of adults in the United States are transgender. In other words, 1 in every 300 people may need guidance or counseling at some time to address gender dysphoria or other challenges or co-occurring issues stemming from a struggle with gender identity or expression. -

The Alliance’s mission is to be the objective national resource on family caregiving with the goal of improving the quality of life for families and care recipients.
The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) is undertaking new work to pursue a more equitable health system for caregivers that recognizes and responds to the unique mental health challenges they face in caring for those with acute and chronic illness, rare disease, and disability. With caregiver input and collaboration with experts in the mental health and caregiving fields, NAC seeks to understand the experiences and mental health needs of caregivers throughout their caregiving
journey and to bring attention to these caregivers and the mental health challenges they experience, as well as to develop and implement best practices, strategies, and guidance that will foster mental health wellbeing in caregivers, allowing them to thrive.
The Advisory Committee will advise and offer input to NAC on the following activities:
• Discuss and review the literature review conducted on caregiver mental health;
• Review and discuss random samplings of audio messages provided by caregivers telling stories about their mental health experience;
• Provide input on the topics to discuss with the expert convening based on information found from both the literature review and the audio diaries;
• Recommend experts in mental health and/or caregiving to attend the convening in early 2023;
• Review and discuss the key takeaways from the expert convening;
• Review and provide input on a Spotlight Series article on mental health. -

Those terminologists among us have always said this topic was the quintessential example that proves "terminology is hard." This project is going to try using some tried and true approaches to how we model information (data elements, value sets, code systems) and use them to define/harmonize some aspects, likely not all, for representing sex/gender. This project will result in a balloted informational document that will define use-context collections that also include appropriate value sets. These artifacts can then be associated with model elements using binding parameters that are informed by the metadata the project will identify with each use context.

The Third Space: A Nonconformist's Guide to the Universe is a dedication to Zander Keig, a pragmatic man who has overcome a lifetime of challenges and adversity.
Zander is a pioneer of the third space. He has charted his own course through life's obstacles and is now living it to the fullest and advocating for others. This book highlights his talent for transforming negative experiences into positive learning opportunities, and serves as a lighthouse beacon in the darkness for readers, urging them to do the same.
Through dichotomous subjects like diplomacy, forgiveness, trust, intuition, and resilience, when the road is forked, Zander guides the reader through untrodden paths.
He explores the importance of accepting information from others, rather than imposing prescriptive ideas, as well as subscribing to independent decision-making, and striking a balance wherever possible.
Take the road less traveled and enjoy a thought-provoking exploration of various aspects of Zander's life, insights, and personal growth. -

Twenty-seven men who transitioned from female to male discuss their roles as male community members: fathers, sons, brothers, husbands, boyfriends, friends, and mentors. Not since Max Wolf Valerio’s The Testosterone Files and Jamison Green’s Becoming a Visible Man has nonfiction seen such thorough and sensitive explorations of manhood, masculinity, and male embodiment—and never in a collection with such a diversity of voices. Contributors offer an incredible range of cultural, class, ethnic, spiritual, and generational backgrounds. Their work addresses topics including birthing and raising children, gay male sexuality, facing racism, and finding solace in deeply held religious beliefs. Contributors include established writers such as Valerio, Aaron Devor (author of FTM: Female-to-Male Transsexuals in Society), and Ryan Sallans (author of Second Son), as well as exciting new authors.

"Transgender individuals face challenges dealing with health care providers. For reasons that are poorly understood, the prevalence of gender dysphoria (GD) in veterans is higher than in the general population. LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) health issues, particularly those of the transgender community, are inadequately covered in recent medical publications and most training programs, and previous negative experiences in health care settings have created barriers for appropriate care of transgender veterans resulting in decreased preventive services, continuity of care, and life expectancy.
Future research must focus on the unique needs of transgender veterans so that health care providers have greater understanding and are better prepared to render appropriate care.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to providing sensitive, evidenced-based care and has made significant progress in achieving this goal although much remains to be done.
Transgender individuals, including those who meet Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-5 (DSM-5; APA, 2013) criteria for the diagnosis of GD, are inadequately understood by health care providers. For reasons that are unclear, the prevalence of GD in veterans is higher than in the general population, even though individuals with GD cannot serve openly in the military. VA is committed to caring for transgender veterans who require sensitive, evidence-based care and has made significant progress in achieving this goal although much remains to be done."Other authorsSee publication

In collaboration with the Trans Law Center and the National LGBTQ Task Force, Gender Justice LA built a six-month trans leadership program from scratch. Drawing on the amazing leadership development programs already in the LGBT and social justice movements, the Trans Leadership Academy welcomed a diverse group of passionate individuals to embark upon a rigorous (and sometimes contentious!) curriculum designed to strengthen the relationships within the trans* community and build the shared skill set of its members.
Monthly sessions included Methods and Models of Social Change, Remembering Our Spirits, and Identity, Power and Privilege. The program also involved programming outside of the formal sessions. Participants engaged in social activities (free tickets to the Los Angeles Ballet and the Hollywood Bowl) and personal development opportunities, including a free modern dance workshop with trans performance pioneer Sean Dorsey.
From the Trans Leadership Academy, several other programs have evolved, including the Trans Mentor Project at the Task Force and TRANSform LA: Building Trans Leaders, at Gender Justice LA.Other creatorsSee project
