Serve as part of the working board of directors in this umbrella organization representing over 500 global organizations. The non-profit promotes the needs of the rare and genetic disease community under a unifying symbol of hope – the Blue Denim Genes Ribbon™.
As association president, responsibilities include oversite of CEO, BOD and EC operations, along with association strategic direction.
Joined the Executive Committee and moved up with increasing responsibilities through roles of Secretary, 2nd VP, President Elect, and President of the Association.
As association Director-at-Large, developed industry corporate partner relations and global membership, which exceeded 5,000 members; and facilitated membership programs among 14 chapters and affiliates. Developed and launched member-in-transition program.
As a new member/volunteer, initiated and ran an RFP to find an outside vendor, oversaw strategic direction and operations around relaunching the association website receiving a presidential award that year for the outcome.
The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) provides advocacy, education and other services to improve the lives of all people affected by rare diseases. Audit committee in 2010, chair of communication committee 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, nominating committee 2011, 2012, 2013. Responsible for tagline "Alone we are Rare, Together we are Strong."
