I pointed to James Governor's post earlier this morning, but I find myself still chewing on it while walking today (kudos to James). A thought: Day Zero Observability is, obviously, a great idea in current enterprise architectures and the processes of the software lifecycle. But what happens as we move from software as a service to a service that is software. That is, how do we approach observability in a future where AI agents may be autonomously (or semi-autonomously) creating, altering, deploying and maintaining various pieces of software inside of an enterprise? More pointedly, how to do we think through observability when pieces of those AI agents may be black boxes -- where we're unable to know how or why an agent came to a result (or deployed a solution)? If Observability is about knowability in our processes and architectures, what will it mean when a component of unknowability is core to our future enterprise architectures and software processes? https://lnkd.in/ehEc9XPb

I'm having enlightening convos with folks who deliver infra for others to run. It sounds like "runbooks/wiki docs" are a real problem from a handoff/support perspective. We have an elegant solution, when you deliver runbooks as "click to play/pre-configured" Notebooks, and a command fails, the user gets an `escalation button` that shares a link to the output/metadata into the shared Slack room. It's ideal for bridging the gap when there's a support relationship. 🤓 This sounds like a case study in the making.. anyone else struggling with this?

Great podcast with Bret Taylor (CEO Sierra). Stellar communicator. Covers a lot of ground. One area he touches on are engineering changes instigated due to agentic frameworks. Resonates with a lot of the work we are doing at Doyen AI. A few nuggets - engineering moving from rule-based to goals & guidelines, increased focus on statistical approaches for managing non-deterministic systems, core agentic components are (a) knowledge of the business, (b) knowledge of business processes, and (c) knowledge of underlying systems for actioning. 🍜Anybody up for some ramen? I am excited to share that I am back in the garage, building again (it’s actually a house in the Berkeley Hills). We are taking the wraps off of Supercog AI, a new startup focused on solving Application Integration using LLM powered agents. My co-founder in this new venture is a great friend of mine (and a former co-founder partner), Alex Osborne. Alex and I have worked around the application integration space for a long time, and we are unrealistically excited about applying the GenAI stack to this problem. Not many people relish the task to get some bits to move from system A to system B. But it’s a critical job to be done, and that’s led to a lot of brittle scripts, a myriad of inflexible “no code” tools, and a lot of hand crafted SQL. But the power of the Large Language Model, trained on a huge corpus of information, offers a remarkable tool to solve this problem. The LLM you use today already knows the APIs of hundreds of popular systems. It knows the SQL dialects of every major database. It understands the semantics and data schemas of many popular SaaS systems. It understands much of the specific domain in which your business operates. I like to call the AI revolution “the last platform shift”. That may turn out to be hyperbole, but I definitely believe we are in the very early stages of seeing what this new stack can enable. I know we are hardly the first folks to claim that “amazing stuff is coming!”. But this is why Alex and I have decided to focus on a real and hard problem. If we can prove that LLMs can power a new way to solve this problem, it will be the first successful *new* approach in 15 years.. We will have much more to share about this new platform soon. Sleep is a burden. Eating is a burden. This week my team at Domo released both AI Chat and AI Readiness into the wild. I find myself so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. SAAS releases are never easy, and this one certainly came with challenges. But I cannot overstate the impact of these features. As it turns out, allowing the line of business user to have natural language conversations with their data is a massive unlock. There are a few things that make these Domo offerings unique and so uniquely valuable: ·     AI Chat is context & focus aware. Oso makes this look easy. Historically you either put all of your data into your auth system which is easy, but creates availability and privacy issues, or else you distribute your data which was scalable and secure, but leads to spaghetti authorization logic and complexity for developers. Such a nice balance here. The CAP theorem of authorization?!

It's gonna be a weird collage of parallelism, pure functions, immutable data structures, and deforestation with low-level techniques like bitsets, avoiding sharing between threads, packing structures into mutable arrays, dynamic compilation of primitive boxes, and macro iteration magic. Super excited to see this announcement for professional *and* personal reasons. On the professional side, having powerful backup and restore capabilities for the super-popular monday.com SaaS service available in R-Cloud is very helpful for monday customers that need protection against accidental or malicious deletes of their monday.com boards and items, and it's built by our development partner Avisi Apps. Personally, because this development relationship started about a year ago when I noticed a LinkedIn update (https://lnkd.in/gH3YvRth) from Gert-Jan van de Streek about his visit to Atlassian Team last year. HYCU was there as well, but did not run into Gert-Jan who I went to college with in the Netherlands, now over 25 years ago. We started talking about what HYCU does for Atlassian, and how this could help Avisi build out protection for their Atlassian customers. Gert-Jan mentioned they do a lot for monday.com as well, so I asked if they would be interested in developing the R-Cloud Module for monday.com. And that's how this all started :)
