“I worked for Sunny under Vestwell’s first official intern cohort. After the pandemic hit, companies across the board were struggling to create that idyllic intern experience in a mostly virtual environment. With the help of one other person, Sunny created that experience for all 6 interns who were in different areas of the business. Over the course of my internship, Sunny made sure every intern felt welcome and passionate about the work they were doing. Not only was every intern able to make an impact in their respective organizations, she made sure our project wasn’t one for show. Most people would take a group of interns and give them a list of problems to tackle and the interns would pick one. Sunny chose to give us the chance to explore and nurture our findings into selecting a problem statement to solve for ourselves. In 3 months, Sunny fostered creativity and community over Zoom which is near impossible to do among any group of people. She helped tackle our problems with the best advice and the biggest heart. Our intern project ended up actualizing onto the company’s platform after our internship ended. A big part of how I choose where to work is in the team I am working for. Aside from the lovely engineers I worked with, Sunny was the biggest reason for my decision to join full-time. Her ability to instill confidence, spark creativity, and ultimately her relentlessness in making sure we knew she believed in us is something I appreciated about her and now look for in any supervisor. It was my greatest honor to be able to work for her.”
