I am grateful for the opportunity to teach leadership skills to an amazing group of women at BTI in Haiti. Their stories of their lives and struggles enlightened me and their questions challenged me. I am not sure who learned more.

Later, I was delighted when a group of the students traveled to the US and two women spent two days shadowing me and allowed me to introduce them to our country and our legal system.

    Financially Legal Podcast

The founder of the Lawyerist website, Sam Glover, once told me that he started Lawyerist because he was mad at a practice management company and wanted a place to complain. He gave birth to a technology blog that’s morphed into a large and well-known online legal destination. But Lawyerist is way more than a website. Through freely available web content, its free-to-join Insider program, and the paid Lawyerist community, Lawyerist Lab, Lawyerist provides ongoing strategic and tactical advice to budding lawyer-entrepreneurs.

In this installment in our Lawyer Communities series we dig in to understand how all the pieces of the Lawyerist puzzle fit together and whether it’s a community you might want to be a part of.

Don’t let the name of the book fool you, though — it is anything but small. This is a very serious literary work about how to achieve growth and success as a small firm practitioner, and I think it has the potential to become the go-to book for solo attorneys and small firms who want to grow.

One of the things I like most about the book is that it tackles the topic from the context of today; it recognizes the major shifts currently happening in society and in the practice of law, offering some guidance in dealing with those changes and reframing them as opportunities.
