    Inventors:
  • Tagging Users of a Social Networking System in Content Outside of Social Networking System Domain

    United States

Users of a social networking system can tag other users in content items that are provided outside of the social networking system, such as pictures that are viewable on a website that is external to the social networking system. To enable a user to tag another user in a content item, an external system provides a user interface that enables the user to tag another user, optionally define a portion of the content item in which the tagged user appears, and provide an identity of the tagged user. The external system communicates with the social networking system to provide the tagging information to the social networking system. The tagging information is received by the social networking system, which imports the content item and displays the content item with the tagging information to other users in the social networking system.

    Inventors:
  • Content Surfacing Based on Geo-Social Factors

    United States

In one embodiment, a geo-social networking system determines a user's current location, calculates a novelty score for the location representing the user's degree of familiarity, and surfaces content within a geographic and temporal radius based on the novelty score for display to the user.

A preview of what LinkedIn members have to say about Sam:

  • I first started working with Sam when I was advising Freshplum. There were two things that struck me immediately - how bright he is and how organized he is. It was not an easy decision but I ultimately joined Freshplum full time as I started trusting Sam enough to realize that it was only a matter of time before he built a successful company. It was one of the best decisions I made. Sam basically takes care of what needs to be done - be it running engineering scrums, managing client relationships, book keeping, product leadership, client negotiations and fund raising for the company. We made numerous clients and sales trips to pitch our products or for performance reviews for our existing clients, and the reception he received from all was unanimously positive. One meeting with Loreal which Sam ran ended up with their VP of e-commerce saying it was the best analytics vendor meeting he had been a part of! Sam will be very successful in his career. I am willing to back him in any of his endeavors since I am confident he will do well in whatever he puts his mind to. I have watched him grow as a leader. He was very young when he started Freshplum, he worked hard at it, and now he is an experienced, respected, well rounded leader in this industry. I wish him well, and would recommend him for any senior/executive role in a heartbeat.
  • Sam is one of the most driven people I know in this industry. When he sets out to do something, he gets it done. He has both vision and determination. I had the privilege of working with Sam at Divvyshot; it was truly one of the most productive and creative environments I have ever worked in. I would not hesitate to recommend Sam, or work with him in the future.
