    I was on the board of the local chapter, Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) started in 2001 and is one of 15 Career Academies in the Wake County Public School System affiliated with the National Academy Foundation (NAF). While the NAF Academy model inspires students and teachers to greater success, the Academies are bridges between corporate America and local communities. The NAF model works by bringing business people into the public schools and introducing youth to the world of business. Through the Academies, educators and business people are partners for investing in and developing America's youth. I have hosted application development workshops including providing career opportunity to students in the program by leveraging the internship program.

    As the sixth Scoutmaster in the history of Troop 316, I had the honor to lead over 100+ young men in their Scouting journey. My experience in scouting includes leadership in previous roles as Cubmaster for Pack 316 and Round Table Commissioner for Crosswinds District. In 2008 and 2013, I received the Distinguished Leadership Citation and in 2012 received the Crosswind District Award of Merit as well as the Jan Malkiewicz Distinguished Award of Merit the same year.
