    -

The purpose of the study is to compare a text message-based mental health and substance use screening and referral to a treatment program, called Listening to Women and Pregnant and Postpartum People (LTWP), to standard of care in-person mental health and substance use screening to look at rates of treatment attendance and retention in treatment. Participation would involve completing online questionnaires. You may be eligible to participate if you are age 18-45 years, are pregnant and entering…

    -

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Organizational Skills Training Program - School based version (OST-S) in a cluster randomized trial. Participating schools will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: 1) an OST-S intervention group and 2) a treatment as usual control group. Participating students (3rd through 5th grade) will be from 20 schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and include both urban and suburban schools serving a diverse population. OST-S is a small-group, skills training intervention for children, which includes parent and teacher consultation to support student use of new skills. The program is delivered by school staff who receive training and consultation from intervention experts.

  • Preparing Marginalized Families for Multimodal Treatment of ADHD

    -

This project is designed to take a first step toward reducing disparities in the initiation and use of EBTs for ADHD for low-income, minoritized children (mostly Black) with ADHD by gaining information that will be used to adapt an intervention (Bootcamp for ADHD, BC-ADHD, Nissley-Tsiopinis, et al., 2022) developed to reduce barriers to care and improve initiation of multimodal EBTs. Although the intervention is being adapted for marginalized families coping with ADHD, it has the potential to…

  • Family-School Success (FSS) for Children with ADHD: A Prospective Clinic-based Evaluation

    -

The objective of this program evaluation study is to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the Family-School Success (FSS) program for ADHD, a multimodal treatment involving the school that occurs within the context of a tertiary care clinic and adheres to AAP and AACAP guidelines for treatment of ADHD.

  • Evaluation of Homework, Organization, and Planning Skills (HOPS) Program: A Conceptual Replication

    -

The purpose of this study is to conduct a conceptual replication of an IES Efficacy study that showed the HOPS (Homework, Organization, Planning Skills) intervention improved organizational, time management, and planning (OTMP) skills for middle school students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In this study, an independent research team will test whether HOPS yields similar benefits under routine practice conditions for the full range of students who have OTMP skills…

  • Reducing Disparities in Behavioral Health Treatment for Children in Primary Care (PASS)

    -

The purpose of this study is to address a decisional dilemma faced by health system officials, policy makers, and clinical leaders: "Does it make sense to integrate behavior therapy into primary care practice to treat children with ADHD from low-income settings? More specifically, does integrated care improve access to services and patient-centered outcomes for underserved children with ADHD?" Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: Behavior therapy integrated into primary…

More specifically, does integrated care improve access to services and patient-centered outcomes for underserved children with ADHD?" Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: Behavior therapy integrated into primary care (Partnering to Achieve School Success; PASS program) to treatment as usual (TAU) plus family education informed by American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines for ADHD practice and facilitated by electronic practice supports." Participants will be 300 children (ages 5-11) with ADHD and their caregivers served at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Care Network Locations (primary care offices). Participants are drawn from primary care locations that serve primarily low-income and racial/ethnic minority population.

The goal of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Bootcamp, as measured by changes in theoretically driven outcomes, intent to initiate evidence-based treatments for ADHD, and actual initiation of these treatments (pharmacological, psychosocial and school-based).

  • Community Health Workers and Mobile Health for Emerging Adults Transitioning Sickle Cell Disease Care (COMETS Trial)

    -

In this study, the research team is comparing three ways to help young adults with SCD manage their disease and use adult healthcare services. One way is by having young adults work with community health workers, or CHWs, who also have SCD and have had training to give support and advice. The second way is using a mobile app called iManage that the research team developed with young adults who have SCD. The third way is the usual care young adults get from their doctors. The second way is using a mobile app called iManage that the research team developed with young adults who have SCD. The third way is the usual care young adults get from their doctors. The team wants to see if CHWs or the app, when compared with usual care, can improve patients’ quality of life, increase patients’ ability to manage their SCD on their own, and reduce how often patients go to the hospital

  • Dietary Flaxseed in NSCLC

    -

This single arm Phase II trial will investigate the feasibility of dietary flaxseed (FS) supplementation in subjects receiving definitive chemoradiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Subjects will ingest FS for a period of approximately 8 to 9 weeks during the course of radiation treatment. Study participation and surveillance will last approximately 6 months. Subject specimen collection will include: blood, urine, and buccal swabs at 5 time points.

    -

This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of proton beam radiation therapy when given together with cisplatin and etoposide and to see how well it works in treating patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer that can be removed by surgery.

  • The Utility of Circulating Tumor Cells as Confirmation of Pathologic Diagnosis in Patients With Suspected Early Stage Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

    -

The primary objective of this study is to determine whether circulating tumor cells (CTCs) can be used as a non-invasive means of confirming pathologic diagnosis in early-stage (Stage I) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Patients scheduled to undergo surgical intervention will have blood samples obtained to test for CTCs. Presence of CTCs will be compared to final pathologic diagnosis based on surgical specimens to assess the sensitivity of using CTCs alone to make a definitive diagnosis.

  • Rate Control Versus Rhythm Control For Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation

    -

The purpose of this study is to compare the therapeutic strategies of rate control versus rhythm control in cardiac surgery patients who develop in-hospital postoperative atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (AF). In patients who develop AF during hospitalization after cardiac surgery, the hypothesis is that a strategy of rhythm control will reduce days in hospital within 60 days of the occurrence of AF compared to a strategy of rate control.

    -

In this 2-year, multisite, randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 607 children with vesicoureteral reflux that was diagnosed after a first or second febrile or symptomatic urinary tract infecton, we evaluated the efficacy of Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMZ) prophylaxis in preventing recurrences (primary outcome). Secondary outcomes were renal scarring, treatment failure (a composite of recurrences and scarring), and antimicrobial resistance.
