My latest article on Forbes.com details the potential loss of critical Army VTOL scientific experts: "Uncertainty For Army Aviation Technical Expertise": https://lnkd.in/egxMim67 With federal workforce cuts, streamlining and other efforts to increase effectiveness, the Army is moving the jobs of all of its researchers from the NASA Ames Research Center to Redstone Arsenal. Few or none of these blue-chip experts in vertical flight design, simulation and experimentation (DSE) will uproot their families and move 2,000 miles across the country. This could be an Achilles Heel in the Army's aviation transformation plans currently underway. Army #VTOL scientists have been co-located at Ames since 1965 specifically because of NASA’s established vertical flight research facilities — including the world’s largest wind tunnel — and the existing expertise base of NASA engineers familiar with #rotorcraft R&D challenges. When including the innovation of Silicon Valley (e.g., AI, #eVTOL, etc.), there's no other place in the world that could be better suited for advancing military vertical flight research.
