    TAD was a complete embedded systems design effort, involving custom board layout, programmable logic, firmware development, back-end software, mechanical design, board stuffing and assembly.

    I worked under the Director of Information Systems, Henry Hicks, to assist in nearly all of these tasks. I was responsible for the embedded development work, in particular, as well as selecting the architecture and various peripheral components. Of particular interest was the timing-critical ISR written in 8051 ASM.

    The completed units were installed across a university campus and used for hourly workers to clock in/out for shift work, updated in real time in the campus-wide management system. Installed in 2002, this system was only recently retired (more than a decade) in favor of a more modern solution.
