Back then, the path to success seemed clear: banking, consulting, or tech. But if I were 22 again, I don't think I'd get the same shot. I was fortunate to have the plan laid out for me at college. So much so that it felt hard to do anything else. 1️⃣ Move to an expensive city (NYC) 2️⃣ Get a very high-paying job in finance 3️⃣ Spend almost all your waking hours working 4️⃣ Ride that path to financial security and career success According to the WSJ, that was the main path to success for the generation: ▶️ Millennial top 5% earners are 4x more likely to be in tech or finance ▶️ Fewer doctors and lawyers make the cut today ▶️ Success is now clustered in mega-firms and mega-cities Is that path still there for this next generation? In both finance and tech, I see AI replacing entry-level roles. Excel models. PowerPoint decks. Entry-level code. I'd rather build an AI platform once than train a new 22 yo every 6-12 months. I haven't written code in 10 years, but AI has me doing our front-end development. If AI eats the entry-level opportunities… 👉 How do young professionals prove their value? Or afford a big city?
