A coalition of 47 patient advocacy organizations has delivered a unified message to the House Committee on Appropriations, urging them to prioritize and support robust federal funding for medical research in the FY26 budget. Kids on Medicaid with eating disorders often fall into a cycle of hospital stays. UCSF researchers found a simple, effective way to change that: therapy. Young patients who received eight or more outpatient sessions after discharge were 25 times less likely to be hospitalized again, even when care came from non-specialists. https://lnkd.in/g2ButvUW

For the past decade, the Evidence-Based Practice, Outcomes and Impact Center (EPIC) at KU Medical Center has been assessing evidence from research studies around the world to inform health policies and clinical guidelines. This summer, EPIC became one of just 11 Evidence-based Practice Centers designated by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. "This designation is the highest level a center can reach in terms of expertise and ability to perform evidence syntheses,” said Reem Mustafa, M.D., Ph.D., MPH, director of EPIC and professor of nephrology and hypertension at KU School of Medicine.
