Interesting to note how many startups exist that had been building for years, and for whom Gen AI's advent in 2022 provided major tailwinds. They built the foundational infrastructure and domain-specific learnings that they could leverage with AI as an accelerant when the time came. Some companies that come to mind are Turing (2018), invideo (2017) and Presentations.AI (2018).
