Summary

New distribution platforms and business models are replacing the traditional business models that have supported the work required to produce quality, original and professional journalism for decades. My focus is to establish robust partnership frameworks necessary for developing scalable digital business models that will support quality journalism in the digital economy.

    Starting

The Digital News Initiative Publisher Coalition is an association of European news publishers that have come together to forge a new partnership framework with Google. The Publisher’s key objectives for the Digital News Initiative are to:

    1. Establish an economic framework that rewards the production of original, quality and professional journalism in the digital economy.
    2. Uplevel our industry’s engagement with Google from tactical product partnerships to strategic engagement and alignment.
    3. Identify fundamental challenges and a range of tangible solutions that benefit both Google and the news publishing industry.
    4. Structure a framework for ongoing collaboration between Google and the news industry to maintain alignment and manage the development of identified tangible solutions over time.
