💡 I also tried creating some interactive lesson ideas in Claude 3.5 Sonnet to experiment like Leon Furze’s example here. Darren Coxon also inspired me in our recent LinkedUp Breaking Boundaries in Education #podcast episode. https://lnkd.in/e-gGuZu2 💪🏻 Using #AI is a great way to enhance lessons to promote #humanintelligence and important #futureskills like creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication while also covering standards. ♻️ What did I create? I had Claude help me create a “choose-your-own adventure” #PBL activity to have students act as community stakeholders and problem-solve to choose the best renewable energy resource or combination of energy resources to sustain a city. I would then have students debate to share their findings, further promoting #futureskills and #humanintelligence. 🫤 The response was fine, but it didn’t seem to provide consequences for the choices as I had hoped. 🔥 So then I asked Claude to modify it and use code for branching options leading to other possible outcomes. Pushing Claude for more provided me with a more complex experience for students that is dynamic and apparently changes over time. I need to create new portfolio pieces. This weekend I'm beginning this journey. I'll be using Tim Slade's eLearning Challenges as one way to build portfolio pieces. I really love the way his challenges list learning objectives and give folks ideas via constraints. My approach focuses on visualizing the course design and the flow between screens, rather than creating a detailed storyboard with transcripts or animation notes. What instructors want vs what instructional designers want? Online ed folks: would you be surprised if I told you the voting on our roadmap features showed disagreement between what features instructors want vs what IDs and distance ed folks want? I guess I should have known that given the amount of time I spend with both. It was enough so that I need to survey more instructors. And then comes the question of how do you prioritize the two when they disagree because if instructors won’t adopt what staff want….i guess the Venn diagram might be interesting. It’s a complicated world out there. :)
