The fulfillment industry is at a tipping point. With limited labor how will you get orders out the door? I’m on a mission to make your warehouse safer and more efficient. Let’s automate tasks that are dull, dirty, and dangerous. Honestly there are a lot of these DDD jobs in a warehouse. One that comes to mind is the traditional pick module for FMCGs. I recall seeing my first 3 level pick module about 15 years ago. I watched warehouse employees hustle from location to location. Pick a box from a pallet then place it on a conveyor belt. They did this repeatedly…all day…every day. With boxes weighing between 20 and 30 lbs. At some point a pallet would be emptied. A worker would awkwardly remove the pallet by hand. Stand it up on one end. Then slide it over 100 feet to a stack of empty pallets. And finally lift the pallet up and place it on the stack. Those activities are worker comp claims in the making. So many ergonomic issues exist with this set up. Which is why so many workers decide to quit. The market is competitive for those that wish to tough it out. Which drives up labor costs. Gone are the days of simply staffing up for busy periods. Which puts you at risk of not getting orders out the door. So why not automate the dirty, dull, and dangerous tasks. Then focus your people on value added services such as quality control. Not everything in the warehouse can be automated. It bears indispensable information, including content, weight, origin, and destination. 🔴 A shipping container label comprises several pivotal elements: 🔻Identification Number: This unique identifier tracks the container's journey. 🔻Size and Type Codes: These reveal the container's physical attributes and dimensions. 🔻Maximum Gross Weight: This includes both the container's weight and its cargo-carrying capacity. 🔻Owner and Operator Details: These are crucial for accountability and contact information. 🔻Hazardous Materials Markings: Containers with hazardous cargo sport additional markings to alert handlers, adhering to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code. Each component of a shipping container label is a cog in the machine that ensures goods reach their destinations securely and efficiently. 🔴 Unraveling Additional Markings Beyond standard labels, shipping containers may feature extra markings for added clarity: 🔻CSC Safety Approval Stamp: A stamp certifying the container meets safety standards for international transport. 🔻Tare Weight: Indicates the empty container weight, excluding cargo. 🔻Payload: Reveals the maximum cargo weight the container can safely bear. 🔻Cubic Capacity: Displays the cargo volume, measured in cubic meters or feet. 🔻MGW for Refrigerated Containers: Specifies the maximum combined weight of container and contents when loaded. 🔻Hazard Pictograms: These symbols on containers carrying hazardous materials communicate risks associated with their contents. 🔴 Managing Hazardous Materials Containers carrying hazardous materials wear symbols that provide critical information about potential risks, like flammability, toxicity, or radioactivity.
