I say the cost for me to review X and advise you is $1,500, $5,000, $25,000+. It all depends on the complexity of the problem. Invariably, those of us who do any kind of consulting work encounter folks in the market who say something like this: It shouldn't take you more than 1 hour if you really know this stuff! That's like $500 at most. The reality is that the value of good advice has absolutely no relation to the time it takes to provide that advice. If someone can solve your $1 million problem in about 30 minutes, that's incredible value. And nobody who can do that sort of work bills for it hourly.
