A friendly reminder to other interviewers and hiring managers: Oregon's Equal Pay Act (which has been called one of the broadest in the country) prohibits employers from seeking information about a candidate's prior compensation, or basing compensation based on the candidate's past or current earning history. BTW: compensation includes "wages, salary, bonuses, benefits, fringe benefits."  While other parts of the Act are going to be enforceable starting in 2019, this part is scheduled to take effect on **October 6, 2017**. That's right: in just over a month, you can't ask a candidate about past salary history. (You can still ask about preferred salary range or desired salary!)
