UNDP Sri Lanka’s Post

Forty years ago, all nations of the world came together under the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer. Considered as one of the most successful efforts of unified determination to protect our planet, the Vienna Convention paved the way for the Montreal Protocol and later the Kigali Amendment, which together have been highly effective in phasing out CFCs, HFCs and other ozone-depleting substances (ODS). Yesterday, on World Ozone Day, the Ministry of Environment hosted a celebration to commemorate the signing of the Vienna Convention and the positive change it has led to. With the attendance of the Hon. Minister of Environment Dr. Dammika Patabendi, Hon. Deputy Minister Anton Jayakodi and other high-level reps, Ms. Marina Ten, Officer-in-Charge UNDP #lka reiterated UNDP's long-term support to #SriLanka #NousSriLanka
